    Panasonic TC-P50U50 Will Not Power On

    So directly after a move to a new house my TV seems to have stopped powering on.

    I pulled the back panel and checked connections between the boards and found one slightly loose connection. I buttoned her back up and tried to fire it up.

    When I plug the cord into the wall I hear a faint relay click, but pressing the remote button or power button on the TV does nothing.

    When I count the red blinks on the status LED I get (14?) blinks.

    I have downloaded the troubleshooting guide for the nearest model I could find online. 2012 Plastma FHD TV-ST Series guide and it gives me a translation as to what blink codes indicate what.

    The table indicates blink codes from 1-13. Apparently I am either mis counting or this guide doesn't apply to my p50u50.

    Please lend a hand in guiding me in the right direction to solve this problem. I know just enough about electronics to be hazardous to whatever I touch.

                  Do not follow that video. It is flawed . I had posted comments to that effect but good ol SJ has removed them. just have a good read of the long list of people who have wasted time and money replacing both.

                  I have little respect for SJ anymore they are rude and arrogant,

                  I don't know about your issue but shorted Vsus is a very common cause for the 14 blinks in that model.

                      Well, is there a way to identify what component is bad?

                      I don't really like throwing parts at a problem and would love to troubleshoot the parts and identify the culprit.

                      Any p50u50 resources I should look at for this 14 blink code?

                          I can't find a reference for 14 blinks for this but does not mean it can't produce one. I think if it was me I'd try checking out the Vsus lines for short maybe on the SS board at SS11 and the SC. I think this is the series that blows SS boards and dead shorts Vsus.

                          See what you find.

                              Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
                              Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

                              Hello,

                              I have a Panasonic TC-P50U50 plasma TV which powers on briefly, then powers off and flashes the power light with 8 blinks. This TV is infamous for this, of which the suggestion that the SS board has failed due to loose grounding screws and requires a replacement of the following components on the SS board:

                              2x DG302 (Q16051)
                              2x RF2001 (D16041)
                              2x 5.6 ohm SMD resistor
                              1x BD8694 IC

                              I have already gone ahead and replaced these components, as well as cleaning off the ground connections on the SS board as well as the associated...

                              Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

                              Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

                              Hello,

                              Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                              Model number is TH-50PZ85U

                              Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

                              Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

                              I also hear a few clicks.

                              I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

                              Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                              I was given a Panasonic TC-P50U50 with 14 blinks. I did all the checks on it and there was no shorts. I reset it holding the power button and tv fired right up. Here's the problem. The only input that is work is the antenna. The HMDI's or the component are not. If I try to scan channels it reboots. Could it just need a firmware update? Or is most likely the mainboard is fried? Also, could someone help me with the suffix please?...
