    Perhaps.. But it does come straight back up and powers the lamps for two seconds.

        Sorry last bump, I'm going to try shorting some of the little ceramic capacitors near the protection ic , if this is a really bad idea please let me know

          That may give you a clue, if it does stay on then you know that something has trigger the shutdown, then you have to find out what it is.
