Which Samsung Plasmas are Prone to Cracking

...around the perimeter under thw bezel where you cannot see it. Am looking at a prospective buy - pn50c680 3D but am not looking to buy a dud lol.

Also, these panels that are cracked, they have a 2 second to black symptom as well ??

As far as I know the 51" models seem to be the most susceptible to cracking. Ive got three of the pn51's with cracked screens. The boards arent worth much either probably because of the large number of them that cracked.

I don't know if it's limited to a plasma, UN55D6050 might be displaying some cracks, couple years old, starts as a tab bond or pixel looking failure then runs into more extremes. Attached are some pics, some time when panel is flattened, not so much, black panel happens some time, there is a pic where old T-Con shows no problem, new T-Con exhibits a white trail

You won't get 2 seconds to black on a plasma if it's cracked, most of the time a cracked panel will damage the buffers and/or Y and X main PCB's if powered on. so no display at all. I have seen a few rare cases where there was a display, assuming the crack hadn't reached full depth of the glass. This is very rare though.

I replaced hundreds of PDP's in my previous job for a national retailer, I totally concur with the 51 inch Samsung panels being particularly vulnerable, these seem to be a very thin lightweight panel and I wonder if the glass is too thin and under too much stress. Having said that Panasonic made very thin PDP's and it was rare to find these cracked aside from physical damage. Maybe it's all in the mounting.

I would have thought the same thing until I read a thread here recently which I cannot find where this was exactly the case. Perhaps an anomoly.

I have a PN43E450 with cracked glass.
Initially, it was showing a two seconds or even less static and the chime and then went off. Found a bad buffer IC(the bottom one) and after removing the bezel, also found a pretty big crack.
