well i revisited this one today and i guess it just needed to rest because now its at least turning on when i press power. steady green light. and i was even able to hook up my n64 and hear some sound and when i shine a bright light at the screen i can see the graphics. i have 24v going to the inverter, but im guessing the inverter is just not doing its job.
i dont even get a flash.
there are 4 voltage regulators on the inverter, 2 of them read all zeros, the other 2 read all zeros except the middle pin/tab which reads 24v
          does that seem right?

heres some pics of the inverter.

i got 24v on the positive legs of both electrolytic capacitors
i got 24v on the fuse
i got 0v on the smd capacitors
i got 0v on all the legs of the IC's except 15v on one of the legs of the 4 leg IC

Re: Toshiba 32DT2U1 has 5v but no stby LED, wont power on

aaaaaaaand its back to being broken again. after working fine (except for backlight) for a couple hours, i turned it off to check the resistances on the transformers and when i turned it back on, the green light would come on for about 5 seconds then just turn off. non standby voltages would come up on the board and then die away with the green light. i decided to jump the power supply without the motherboard connected, and that worked. all voltages were present but still no backlight.
when i tried to hook the motherboard back up though, now i dont get a green light..it just gets stuck in "on mode" as soon as i plug it in...voltages are there but the motherboard must be crashed cause i cant hear sound or change source or anything...so it seems like my psu is fine, my inverter has a problem, and my motherboard has an intermittent problem...

oh yeah the resistances on the transformers were all infinite except for the 2 pins in the middle on the psu side of the board...those are 0 resistance. doesnt seem right to me. maybe theres a coating over the pins that i need to scratch away to get a better reading..

after letting the tv sit for a few days, it was able to turn on again as before, and get sound and see graphics but still no backlight. since i found an inverter for only 12$ on ebay i decided to get it... but i guess i still have some kind of motherboard problem because after turning the tv off after running it for a while, its back to showing the green light for about 5 seconds and then turning off again...what could be happening here? some kind of eeprom that clears itself after being without power for long enough?

i was able to turn the tv on and off again just fine a bunch of times. but after i let it run for about 30 minutes, i powered it off and was not able to get it to power back on again. just the green light for 5 seconds. then eventually not even the green light will come on...ill let it sit for another day or 2 and see what happens.
