    Samsung Plasma - PN58C540G3FXZC

Hello, hopefully someone with greater knowledge than myself can fix my tv problem.

    Samsung Plasma - PN58C540G3FXZC

As like so many others on here, I turned my TV on one morning and saw a faint flash of white noise, like what you would see with no source connected to the antenna portion. However, it did not cover the entire screen and each time I would turn the tv on it would flash in a different area. Once it had flashed, seconds after turning it on the screen goes blank. I disconnected all sources except my BluRay player, as it was the most reliable and I could get audio.

I did the voltage readings as many have indicated and all look normal.
    Va: 55
    Vsc: -200
    VS: 209
    Ve: 90

However, once the flash occurred and the screen goes black, I would quickly lose the voltages on everything. After reading several threads I've realized this is a built in feature of the power board when it detects a short or problem.

After reading several different threads I concluded it was the Y Main. So I ordered the Y main and both Upper and Lower Buffers from Tvpartsguy.com. Once I got them, I replaced the boards and got the same results. I then went and ordered the X main and buffers, same results. I even ordered the logic board and got the same results.

After feeling depleted and thoroughly frustrated I came back on here and found the link for the fast track service manual and did the logic board and main board test.

I got the same results, a flash on the screen then black screen. Virtually the only board I have not replaced on this tv is the main board, instead of spending any more money I thought I would turn here for any additional help before doing anything further as I clearly can't figure this out on my own.

Thanks for listening, hope to hear from ya

Can you check the panel -very- carefully for cracks, chips or other damage?

      Thanks for the reply

When you say the panel are you referring to the front of the tv? Or in behind the chassis. Meaning I must first remove all the boards correct? Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, this entire thing has been a learning curve for me.

I mean the front of the screen, the side you watch it from.

Try disconnecting the SC and SS boards then check Ysus voltage and other voltages marked on the panel. Check the pins that power the SC and SS boards. One of the pins will be ground the other power. The ground will be shorted to chasis ground (normal)
the Ysus pin should not be shorted to ground. The poard that is shorted is killing the PS
Sometimes a board can fail without being a dead short to ground. a few thousand ohms, I suspect but it should not be less than 500 ohms. This gives you a startig point

What does SC and SS stand for so I know which boards I'm disconnecting

Since this is a Samsung plasma, the boards are called Y-main and X-main. When looking at the back of the set with the back cover off, the left hand board is the Y-main and the right hand board is the X-main.

                  Re: Samsung Plasma - PN58C540G3FXZC

I work 12hr shifts and was unable to look at the tv the other night. I work all weekend but I hope I can get some time to check out what was suggested to me.

I am fairly new to a multimeter. What is the safest way to test the pins for shorts?

I have replaced both y and x boards with the same results. Would that not eliminate the possible short I would be testing for?

                    Hi tom

I was able to check out the panel and to the best of my ability did not see anything that would indicate a problem with it

                      by bcstedt
Just starting to crack into this one and wanted to get the ball rolling.

At power on (plug in), power light on, relays click, repeat (sometimes)

After disconnecting Y-Main from SMPS power stays on and boot up jingle is heard from speakers

Removed Y-Main for inspection and testing

Compatibility of main boards between different variations of samsung MU6100
                      by JSin21
                      Hoping someone here could possibly help. I have a few questions in regards to compatibility with main boards. But I'll give a quick short run down on what's going on first;

I have Samsung Smart TV UA65MU6100WXXY version DA01

Now years ago it started intermittently playing up after a lighting strike. Lighting hit the block of units i was living in at the time. Ever since that night the TV started having a mind of its own, It would randomly turn itself off or on, and all inputs stopped responding like HDMI, aerial, but USB still worked. Anyway, over the next few months...

                      by Biruslapio
Hello, the problem with this TV is it has all the Y and X voltages, but does not produce any image.

It had a TON of cracked solder joints on these boards, fixed all that I could find, but in the last test I forgot to plug in the Y-SUS to control board flat cable, it was left dangling and possibly some pins shorted to the panel metal ground, the X-Main buzzed quietly then blew up in 3 seconds after powering up, annoying.

Two RJH30E2 shorted, they are 360V 35A 1.7VCE IGBTs, the problem is I don't have any 360V IGBTs, only 300V or 600V, would two RJP3065 fit in? It's...
