    LG plasma 60PA6500-UA panel issues

Can plasmas be operated face down on a padded table long enough to take voltage readings? Is it a reasonable assumption, 2 guys with proper caution and care, laying down and picking up a plasma from a padded table shouldn't damage the panel? Thanks!

Cleedus: What the Hell do we want to go to Texas for and haul beer back here? What is that?
Bo: For the good old American life. For the money, the glory, and the fun. Mostly for the money.

I do a lot of tests with the tv face down. Just don't bend the frame.

Re: LG plasma 60PA6500-UA panel issues

Thanks! I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. It originally started with not turning on, checked and had all voltages, checked all connections, no burn marks or pits or holes in anything. replaced the main board after Shop Jimmy helped me decide. It would then turn on with sound but no picture. Replaced logic board, had two thirds of the picture and had sound. After inspecting the suspected address buffer, I had thin vertical colored lines and a few vertical black bands. The sound also went away but with the panel distorted I can't see the settings. The logic board LED blinked a pattern of short-short-long-short. I took a chance and replaced the logic board again and all three address buffers. No change. Tom66 advised inspecting for abraision damage to the panel ribbons and to see what happens when disconnecting half of the left sus board. All ribbons are good, no rubbing. I can't seem to get the connectors on the sus board to come loose, I don't want to break anything, any suggestions? I'm not happy with the longevity of this tv, ONE AND A HALF YEARS OLD!!! Thanks to everyone for reading! LG plasma model 60PA6500-UA mfg date 2/2012

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
            by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
            by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
            by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
            by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

            tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

            QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
            by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....
