Re: Multi 110v outlets, individual timed control
Appreciate it guys, the search advice really helped! I’m thinking I’m on the right track now with this or something similar:

Re: Multi 110v outlets, individual timed control
Thanks Goontron, I’d want X to come on for about 30 seconds or so, then shut off and the next socket Y would do the same, and continue for a total of 4 sockets....Last edited by Poor Flick; 11-24-2018, 11:29 AM.

Multi 110v outlets, individual timed control
I'm wanting to control on and off timing to 4 110v outlets for outdoor Christmas light strings. Probably have 1 outlet on for about 30 seconds or maybe a minute, then switch off and repeat in sequence to another for the same amount of time, each independently, not to have more than 1 on at a time. I've looked some on the internet and searched some here on BCN with no luck, anyone heard of such a timer?

Re: Element brand TV, decent or dud?
Also, 720p/1080p doesn't matter much on a small 32” panel, correct?

So...
As far as quality goes, who sucks the least?
Visio, Toshiba, Sharp, Samsung or Sanyo?

Re: Element brand TV, decent or dud?
That’s one way to look at it. The tightassity I have would like it to last longer though. Maybe go with Samsung or Toshiba and drop to 720p to keep the cost down?

Wow, that’s not good. I may have to re think things a bit. Thanks!

Element brand TV, decent or dud?
Catching up on Christmas shopping, just curious if Element brand TVs could be expected to last for a few to several years. I seen a 39” model no. ELEFW3916 at Walmart for $200.
Also seen a Insignia 39” model no. NS-39DR510NA17 for $200 also.
It’s for a bedroom so maybe running for a couple hours per day.
Thank You!

Re: LG plasma logic board blink code
Yep, my ass is still bruised from the ass kicking I gave myself!
The blinking pattern on the fully repaired and normal working set is steady with no irregular pattern....

Re: LG plasma logic board blink code
Chood2, I got your email but I thought I’d post the reply here, maybe it will help others also.
I never found an answer to my flash code. What did happen is that I replaced the power supply board and got my panel to come mostly on with no sound. Replacing the logic board got my sound on. In the process I didn’t see a defect in the end of a ribbon connector, causing the blank spot in my panel. I continued troubleshooting by pulling off the skinny long metal cover on top of the ICs along the bottom of the panel thinking I would...Last edited by Poor Flick; 10-31-2017, 01:22 PM.

Re: How a plasma display panel (PDP) works
I just happened to notice this thread. Interesting subject as when I tried for my first time to repair my LG 60PA6500, and just about had it fixed until I had a rookie blunder and ran it to check for power going to the lower address buffers without the metal cover, (I thought), cooked the ICs. Obviously it was a heat sink! I regret being a dumb ass often!
My question is, would running a PDP on lower power settings in the picture quality menu help a PDP live longer? I usually run it on a medium setting and...

With a member name like yours I have to ask if you have some type of Hemi Mopar? If you do you need to post pics and details in the of topic/lounge section!
Some of us would be very interested!

Heat sinks, learn from my mistake!
LG 60PA6500-UA
If someone can learn from my screw up, maybe I can make a contribution here at BCN. I had a problem with my TV last year. I left with it on one day and it was off when I came back. It wouldn't turn back on. Troubleshooting led me to a bad main board. Replaced that, It then powered on, had sound but no picture. More troubleshooting led to replacing the logic board. I then had sound and two thirds of a picture. The cause of the one third picture problem was a ribbon terminal lifted up at the logic board, I DID NOT NOTICE THIS YET! I then thought I'd check voltage, etc, at the...

Re: How to run the self test on a plasma display control board / logic board
catalin004,
You will need to ask your question in the "troubleshooting tv" section.
Those reading it will want all available info of your tv and good pictures.
I'm not much help on tvs, but there are some here that are great at this!
Welcome aboard!

Re: lightning rods
Wow, everyone! Thank You! I've been reading up on the links and putting that together with your advice. I'm coming to the conclusion this is going to be one of those projects where lack of knowledge could be a very dangerous thing. I'm going to study on this further before I just go and put up some air terminals, cables and ground rods. For now I think I'll look into some whole house surge protection to go with my plug in protection at my tv etc. I'm thinking now the damage came through the cable line as the main and logic boards on the tv were damaged and my...Last edited by Poor Flick; 01-12-2015, 10:07 PM.

Re: lightning rods
goontron,
I have read similar where the idea is to equalize the charge difference between the ground and the air through the rods. The writer also stated these equipped buildings rarely are struck. Before reading that I first thought they were designed to attract and safely route it to ground. That would be a noisy and dangerous scenario! I didn't know what to believe.
So you agree that the air terminals are constantly working to equalize the charge difference to reduce the chances of a strike?
