panasonic plasma TH-42px25 red screen

I turned my tv on yesterday and the color is all red The picture is visible but everything has a red tint and there are ghost images on the screen. hoping for some insight on this problem.

could be something simple like a poor LVDS cable connection. I've had that with a PA50(2005 model). If you can post some pictures by using Go advanced and manage attachments. just helps to give a clear idea .

I uploaded the pictures. i also brought up the tv menu because the functions seem to work

yeah, that changes things. I'm thinking SS board now. maybe wait for some other opinions on it. Not sure if SC board can cause that or not.

Try downloading this manual, large at 55meg and old. I think you need to dpen the HTML document which is the menu. A single pdf would be better. Might be some info in there.

With some luck Tom may have some ideas, I have not tinkered much with those old models

I think this is 2nd gen Panasonic plasma (2002?), my bet also to SS board.

It is about 10 years old. which one is the ss board and is it worth fixing? I took the back cover off and can see all the boards. If it is the ss board, do I just replace that one?

For me, it's old tech , but I fixed a 2006 PA60 and for a SD set the picture was ok.

If you're happy with it and assuming it's the SS board, I found this $10 board.

wow that's cheap. I will definitely take the chance on that. I prefer repair over replace any day. thanks a bunch. I will order that today and let you know how it goes.

Out of interest for an old plasma:
- Any burn in?
- Any sign of flickering/malfunctioning pixels? (maldischarge) before SS failure

Aside from genuinely faulty Panasonic sets I've never seen maldischarge on a Panasonic, would be interesting to hear how they hold up with age. I have a 2011 Samsung plasma which has maldischarge on the screen, for such a new set that's crazy.

I love the tv. I figure its 11 years old. I have not had any issues with it at all up until this. it is the perfect size for the room and if you guys think that the ss board could be the problem then ill go that route. I am sure that a new tv would be much better with picture quality but I have a hard time letting go of things that I like. I am going to get the ss board and see if it fixes it.

Ok so i purchased the ss board and installed it last night. That did not fix it. Any ideas ? Should i try the sc board or call it qiuts?
