Samsung P59D6500 2011 random shutdown now only standby

I can't believe how many tv's are breaking these days. I had a Philips 36" for 14 years and now my 2nd flat screen in in under 5 years has stopped working.
Anyway I have a Samsung P59D6500 and last week it went into standby by itself and wouldn't turn on so I unolugged it and plugged it back in and nothing so I unplugged it for 15-20 minutes and plugged it in and it turned on. This occured again 2 days later and the 3rd day it worked fine and the 4th day it was turning off every 30-45 minutes, sometimes the sound would be on, sometimes just standby. I'm thinking it has to be a heat issue so I set the picture to standard and it worked for the rest of the night about 20 deg. cooler than usual (I should point out the usual temp is around 120 in the top right corner). The next day it keeps shutting down with standard picture settings so I removed the back cover and can't see anything wrong, no blown fuses or bulging or leaking caps, solder joints and trace look good. Next I checked board temps with a infrared gauge and found 2 hot spots. 1 is on the smps (orange circle) and is 140-150deg. and the 2nd is on the Y-main (yellow circle) and is around 135deg. Next I unplugged tv for 20 min and plugged it back in and used a heat gun on the y-main to heat it to 160-170deg in small sections (hope this didn't cause more damage). After 8 min of doing this I didn't notice anything and stopped and the tv turned off 30 seconds later, sooner than usual. Repeated this on the smps and got the same result. Next day the tv turned on in the morning and went off after 15 min and would not come on again.

If I had the time I would learn and diagnose but I don't and other than Tom66's fast track manual I can't find any info on this model. If I had the money I would have it fixed by a not employed by Samsung repaiman because It don't like the idea of Samsung profiting from their lack of quality control. I would like to just replace just the damaged board or boards but I don't want to damage a new smps because of a bad X or Y-main. Any info or ideas would be appreciated.

I presume your temperatures are in Fahrenheit.
This is most likely a bad main board.

Thanks for the quick reply. Temps are in F. I should have mentioned about a year ago I replaced the main board because an indirect lightning strike took out all of my HDMI ports in 1 room of my house.

In your fast track guide you say short the highest numbered pins on the top left and bottom left and the vid says highest pins on the top left and right. What should I do?

The pin legend on the power board will tell you, you need to jumper PSON and GND, and VSON and 5V1 (or 5V2,5V3,5V4)

Oh, sorry. You need to jumper pins numbered 3 and 4.

Ok, 3 and 4 jumped, PSON and GND jumped and LDVC cable removed. Pluged in and SMPS clicks, led on logic flashes slowly and that's it.

That indicates a fault with the Y-main, Y-buffer, X-main, power supply or (rarely) control board.
Are Vs and Va voltages present in fault condition?

Y-main and X-main are just the 1 plug right? Then put meter on test points for Vs and Va to check volts when I plug in power cord?

Is it safe to assume if I can't get more than 6.7v from Vs and Va on the SMPS even right when I plug it in that it is bad?

What are the chances a bad X or Y-main can damage a new SMPS?

If all the voltages are ok (including va and vs), then the TV is on and in this case ps_on should be 0V. See http://youtu.be/JjrwTZC5nVg?t=0m54s.

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

                                          Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power...

                                          TV: Samsung QLED QE65Q7FNAT
                                          PSU: BN4400940A
                                          MB: BN94-12832K

I got the tv in spring 2024. At that time it started, then ran 60 sec and poweroff. Seemed like reboot issue. I didn't have time and room to check it in summer so I plugged it in and now the standby light is on. I press button on remote, standby light goes off and tries to start?. No picture or backlight on LCD. I thought about removing diodes like in this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...sung-qled-q60r...
