Samsung LN40A530 tries to power, recycles continuously

Won't power on or off, keeps trying to turn on, LED blinks 3 times and you hear the audio attempting to initiate. Replaced Power Board, same issue, attempted to freeze T-Con, same problem. A tech friend commented to disconnect power cable at main board to determine if main board is the issue. No response when I remove main ribbon cable at main board.

    Any ideas?

It won't power on without the mainboard.
You need to jump the powersupply on.

Hamie, do you think it's the main board? I get a fiber optic digital flash.

But an associate tech is adamant that it's the power board

I also disconnected power to the inverter, same thing, attempts to recycle.

Try with t-con cable unplugged, but main board and power board properly connected.

Re: Samsung LN40A530 tries to power, recycles continuously

Need to eliminate the powersupply first.

            Jump pins 1-3

Pin1 is the one with the arrow pin 3 is the one directly next to it.
Unplug the mainboard and jump it like this. (But between pins 1 and 3)

If it continues to relay click on and off then you have a faulty powersupply.

With disconnected T-Con, the TV powers up, displays a gray with no graphics

"With disconnected T-Con, the TV powers up, displays a gray with no graphics" that is normal to have grey screen without T-CON. So it will stay on without cycling on and off? If that is the case, you can connect the T-CON back and then disconnect the ribbon cables between the T-CON and the LCD panel to see if it will also stay on.

No, with T-Con disconnected from panel, it goes back in to an attempt of power recycle mode.

On these Samsung LCD TVs you do not need to do this jumper - they will turn on automatically with the connector unplugged, backlight and all.

It would appear the T-con board is defective in this case.

As always, thanks Tom, that will be the next part I try. Rather invest in a T-Con than a main board. I already have an extra power board.

FYI, I will post if successful, it will be about a week, we have a holiday (4th of July). I guess you all are aware of that on your side of the Pond?

                            Thanks to all of you!

Good, just want to verify that it is not the shorted circuit (shorted TFT drivers, caps, etc.) in the panel that is causing the problem. So T-CON is suspected.

T-Con, Tom you're the best! You should actually charge for your services or consulting. I found an untested T-Con for $9 on Ebay and $3 shipping from Delaware to Idaho in 2 days for $3
                                  Total $12
                                  Anyone need a power supply
                                  Regards and happy 4th!
