Sharp LC-32AV22U No audio and garbled video until warm

I seem to have found another set that was destined for the trash, so I rescued it. Searching around this forum, I found this thread, which is similar:

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ght=lc-32av22u

With one major difference - I get no audio initially. I couldn't blindly toggle the inputs to find where I was connected since I couldn't listen for the sound. What happens is that after 5-10 minutes, once it warms up, it starts working like a champ. Until then, I get the garbage video and absolutely no audio. When it does warm up, one of the larger ICs on the digital main board gets very hot to the touch. So this leads me to believe that this board (since I won't be changing out that part) is to blame. The last pic is the suspect IC.

What I'm finding is a lot of "similar but different" when checking eBay (SJ it out of stock). Is anyone familiar with this board, and which number is the most important? I narrowed it down to A31C03EDH0 via SJ, however when searching that on eBay I get various differences on the other labels. The other that I can see some similarity is the CA02B73093 label.

And I suppose at the end of it all, am I off base in thinking it's this board? It's one of those "just makes sense" things to me, but that's not always a silver bullet. Thanks!

Check that - I let it cool down and then powered it back on - garbled pic but it does have audio since I don't have to blindly hunt through inputs. That makes more sense, since the amp section would be different than that chip (which appears to feed the LVDS cable to the t-con board). Any chances it could be the t-con board causing something like that, now that audio is a non-issue?

Yes, it does look like a T-con issue.

Oddly enough, I let it cool down last night for a bit. Powered it back on, same garbled video. Let it warm up for about 10 minutes and still bad video. So I pressed on the two large chips on the digital board and also on the large fine pitch IC on the t-con, and video came back on. And now I can't get it show bad video again, even after cooling all night. I'm wishing it would go bad so I could go back and check them one a time to see which is the problem. I'm wondering if those two BGAs don't have bad solder joints, like traditional xbox 360 failures, and me pushing on them when toasty warm was enough for them to just stick a bit. If that's the case, then it's just a matter of time until they pop loose again.

I'd rather suspect the large fine pitch IC on the t-con - seen a few intermittents in both TVs and monitors due to that. Try resoldering its pins.

I can definitely touch up those pins, no problem there. Thanks for the suggestion!

When a replacement t-con board is only $14, it's just not worth my time. Board ordered, hopefully will be here Saturday or Monday.

Out of boredom I touched up the pins on that IC. No change. I hit the t-con for about 20 seconds with a hair dryer, and the time it took to work properly was reduced from 10-12 minutes down to just 3-4. So I'm hopeful that the replacement that comes in Saturday will set things right.
