PANGOO PT-50S18 aka LG 50PG3000 chassis

Ive never heard of this make, but looks like the main PDP is an LG 50PG3000 chassis.

It had no picture or sound, Vs Va present, No VSC

Removing Buffers and VSC returned. Replacing just bottom buffer gave a mal-discharge half raster.

I traced the faulty buffer chip--The Top One-- and carefully removed it with hot air. No damage was caused.

I replaced the top buffer and expected a picture--But all I get is the panel initialising and thats it. No sound and tried running the built-in test from the control-board by disconnecting the LVDS and linking the Ext_Auto_Gen but no change.

Cant see what input its on, but tried pressing buttons, supplying HDMI and antenna to see if I could get sound, none at all.

Do ALL the buffer chips need to be present for Anything to appear on the screen?

Guess I'll chuck a buffer-chip in when I get one and see if that helps....

One many plasmas, the data enters the top IC and then travels down to the bottom IC. So the top IC needs to be present.

      Aye-Tom's Correct again!

I just traced the dataline, it goes to the top IC on one pin and appears to go to another pin inside that chip that then connects to the same I/P data-pin on the next IC down....

Wonder what would happen if I bridged them.....Hmmm.......

Bridging will shift the panel down by one IC. Excess data from the bottom IC should be discarded.

Ha!--Thats what I was expecting too.....

Reality however is somewhat different. Looks like there's some other 'data' or 'Address' line thats linked through the top IC too.

What I get is the first (Top IC) part of panel blank--No surprise there, but second IC part of panel is producing its correct part of picture--ie, its not displaced downwards as expected.

Everything down after that--To the bottom of Top Buffer is correctly displayed.

Below that, (Bottom buffer) just very dark grey--Panel initialised, with no image at all.
--Didnt forget to plug back in the small5 way link-lead between buffers either....

At least Ive proved the Signals side and most of the rest of the set is actually working.

Ive a couple of buffer-chips on order, so we see what happens....

Ah on some sets there is odd and even data so you might need to connect both I'm not sure.

Think I'll just wait till the buffer chip comes in.....

I just wanted to see if the mainboard was still alive--looks like it is....

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
                by LEECH666
                Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

                Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Marian Trace Alpha sound card repair help
                by Christos Tsiligiannis
                Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...
