Akai 50 inch plasma tv PDP5016H distorted display, especially bottom half

    please see the pictures
it is an akai 50 inch plasma tv pdp5016h
the bottom half is distorted most of the time but the colors on the screen seem to aggravate it (when certain types of colors are being displayed in a movie scene or whatever it is not as bad and when other types of colors make it worse)
sometimes the top half is messed up too but it is mostly the bottom half
this started randomly, but the tv used to be fine
i did not change or unplug anything when this started that i can recall

so far i have only turned the tv off and unplugged it for 1 hour and plugged it back in to try to test it and it was still messed up (i also tried different DVI cables and settings on the computer and tested the computer with other displays to rule those out and the computer displayed fine on other displays and the cable and settings didnt seem to matter)

    any assistance is appreciated

Bad lower Y-buffer or broken connection between upper and lower buffers.

what is the suggested solution? i am experienced with computers but nothing about tvs... is it advised that i buy a y-buffer (after making sure it is for the exact model and version and revision etc for this tv) on the internet and replace it? is this something a novice can do?

is it not worth the cost at this point?

I'd say a novice could do it. Whether or not it is worth the cost depends on how much the part costs. It's probably got an LG panel inside it, and the buffer boards for LG sets are usually fairly cheap. I'd say about $30 to $40 for a used replacement board. You won't be able to find a new part though.

if it is the latter... just a broken connection, i dont have to buy anything right? just reconnect the ribbon cables? at worst i would have to buy a ribbon cable?

what % accuracy do you think this diagnosis is before i buy stuff?

          thanks for assistance

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
            by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television half screen problem
            by renech
            hello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
            I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
            by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

TD Systems K50DLG12US half black and half white screen
            by Raulnn
good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the...
