probably the soldering under the chips has gone and hes tried to aid cooling the adding the copper well thats my guess.

Could you show us a picture or video of what it does when it is faulty?
Are user menus etc. affected too?

@tom as you can see in the video solarized images and sometimes lines of blocks on screen but you cant see that in the video

Hmm, unlikely to be panel going by what it looks like. Have you checked the LVDS cable is properly seated both ends, no damage, bent/burnt pins, etc.?

Access service menu: from standby press: Info Menu Mute Power on remote, then when service menu pops up, select SVC, then select Test Patterns. See what, if any, difference there is between GENOA-P and NAPOLI patterns, and if there are other generators present check them too.

GENOA-P fault only: Main board pattern generator. Fault on main board or LVDS cable or T-con (T-con is unlikely but cannot be 100% ruled out.)
GENOA-P & NAPOLI fault: T-con board pattern generator. Fault on T-con board.

Do you have options under CONTROL or CTRL? I am going by the US service guide, I don't have the UK one for this model.

You have to press "OK" to select Control option.

According to the EU service manual you should have FBE Pattern Sel, and Logic Pattern Sel. http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresul...oria=&kat2=all

Try selecting "Panel Auto Setting" and pressing OK, I think the panel options may be wrong. Also try a Factory Reset.

                          Re: Samsung ue40c7000

Since the behaviour in the service menu is different to the service manual, someone has been fiddling with this TV more than adding pennies to the chips (seriously, who thinks that's a good repair technique?!)

I think I see a Samsung panel sticker. What is the Panel Option under "Option" on the service menu? It should be AMLCD or SAMSUNG and the INCH OPTION should also match.

Did you try the "Panel Auto Setting" option?

                            PANEL TYPE 40A2UF7E
                            LOCAL SET EU_AII
                            MODEL UC7000
                            TUNER SEC_T2
                            FRNT COLOR T-M-BRN

and if i try the panel auto setting it goes to wait then quickly back to failure

Does the panel sticker say "LTF400HQ02"?
