Trying to choose an equivalent capacitor to fix my DVD recorder. It seems that the original part from Panasonic has a higher ripple value than the replacement capacitor i found. Is that very important ? Should i find one that has the exact same ripple current value. http://industrial.panasonic.com/www-...UED2V101E+7+EU

Re: What does ripple current mean?
Why post in this thread? Don't you realize it's really off topic? You've revived a thread from 2006 ffs.
Higher current ripple is GOOD. Just like the voltage rating of a capacitor it represents the MAXIMUM a capacitor can handle before it can be damaged.
Only the ESR value should be as close as possible to the old capacitor (and lower values are better).

by chth96When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.
Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...-

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by clearchrisI'm getting ready to put in a capacitor order. I generally look for nichicon, panny, kemet, or united chemicon, and I'm noticing that there aren't any 1000 hour caps anymore, and not many 2000 hour caps. Most of the caps are rated around 5000 hours or better. Last time I ordered, 1000 hour caps were pretty much most of them, and the very few 10,000 hour caps had pretty bad specs.
So what's the deal, have we made major progress with capacitor reliability in the past few years? Are these high lifetime caps ok to use? It's not that I wouldn't welcome the change, I really would, I'm...-

Howdy folks,
I have an Optiplex GX260 that blew a couple of those troublesome Nichicon HM series (ultra low ESR) electrolytic capacitors. Because said caps are obsolete, they are pretty much impossible to find on the market; I did find a listing for some but I believe they are counterfeit. I feel the easiest thing to do would be to replace all the blown caps with polymer ones. I am by no means an expert in electronics, and I've found a fair bit of conflicting information, so any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. While from a practical standpoint it's not worth...-

Recently I was given for free a Sony RCD-W3 with the following symptoms, CD recorder drive reads CDs without any issues (haven't tested recording function yet because I don't intend to burn CDs on that machine) but the reader drive shows disc error after some seconds of it trying to read CD. Tried both CD-Rs and commercial audio CDs with same results.
First thing to do was to clean the lens but that didn't change anything. Googling the issue revealed that this is a common issue on several Sony CD recorder machines and the culprit is SMD electrolytic caps located on the PCB bellow...6 Photos-
