    Technika lcd40hd-ready

    Hi guys

i have this tv and the guy dropped it round today and said he accidentally put child lock on and its gone into standby and wont come out

now the remote he gave me is not the one for the tv, ive tried pressing buttons but nothing happens

the blue light is on....not flashing or anything....solid

before i start stripping the tv down, i wondered if this is gonna be a case of ordering a proper remote 1st.....any one else had this problem or can help in any way? i.e. entering into service menu, reset, or pressing sequences for the remote etc etc?

    Re: Technika lcd40hd-ready

Is it a VESTEL? If not who is the OEM?
For a Vestel you can use a Philips remote control - codes are the same - failing that nearly any other Vestel remote will work too.
What main board? Could be a case of replacing EEPROM...

Normally with a tecinch-crap-ica Vestel, there's the on-off button. Pressing in will give solid blue-led on front, and nothing else.

Pressing the Third button down in the row of smaller buttons below the 'power' button--will fire it up.
--Unless there's a fault, this doesnt fail to make 'em work, IME.....

I probably see about 5 or 6 Vestels in various disguises every day. HATE the things!

          Re: Technika lcd40hd-ready

i havent had the back off yet, sorry for late reply, i subscribed but had no emails

yes thats all it does at the minute, power button pressed and light comes on and thats it

the buttons are on the top, from left to right is vol -,+ ch -,+,menu, av, power

problem is when the child lock is enable it stops all but the power button on the set form working i believe, ive tried pressing various buttons with no success, on the remote as well, but the remote ive been given doesnt have any kind of menu/settings functions

thought there might be a HOLD + AND - AND POWER ON, or something like that to reset the set

IF you have a universal remote, try out some Philips codes--they often work with them..

what do you mean service menu codes or child lock code?

i dont know what to press? do i just enter the code on remote...or have i got to press something before and after the code? im sure the instructions that ive read use the display button but the remote i got doesnt have that button on it

i tried just entering 0000 as this is the default for child lock, but it didnt do any thing, then think i tried a service menu code but coz there wasnt a display button just tried all the other buttons 1 at a time....but still nothing

                Re: Technika lcd40hd-ready

Thought you said, you didnt have a remote...

Usinga Universal remote--the codes for a Philips set will make the remote work with a Vestel....

Normally if a set is 'Locked' (I have a Philips at work thats Locked, havent bothered with it yet), it will fire up--and say on the screen--LOCKED-- for 15 seconds, then turn off.....

A set that wont come out of standby, (Which is what you have) isn't Locked--Its Faulty!

Suspect caps in PSU--Being a Vestel,--likely a 17PW15/16/20 or similar PSU there'll be a couple of 3300uF 6.3V spewing their guts and a 1000uF growing hair outta the top, probably a couple more too!

                  Re: Technika lcd40hd-ready

the remote is NOT a universal one and is NOT the one for the tv.....not said that i didnt have a remote?? im saying the remote i have doesnt have the key buttons needed to get access to the service menu....or so im led to believe, but no one has given any info on service menu for this set on here?

the guy said that the remote works with the tv, which leads me to believe that the remote is the problem and the child lock is preventing the tv from not coming on with the buttons on the set

normally with these sets when a fault happens the set will either show no signs of life or light will flash.......or so im led to believe! lmao

when you say locked....its possible its locked......how do you then unlock it? what do you have to do?

BTW--You can 'Never' believe what a Customer tells you as to what caused/is the fault.

I get litrally dozens of donations that all these customers swear work perfectly--99.8% of those items Do Not Work--either at all, or faulty in some way!

Dont ever fall into the 'Customer said' Trap! Form your own conclusions on what you actually see/hear when fully checking all functionality with the set itself and ignore the guff the customer says!

If you provided some pictures as we've asked for then we'd be able to give a guess as to who makes this set and what the entry code might be.

                          Re: Technika lcd40hd-ready

im not saying that....all i want for now is a way to check...without stripping the set down...to save time...but seems like no body knows any thing about this crappy tv...even the model code is bollcks..... TV LCD40HD-READY

and you dont need pictures to answer the question in which the whole post is about??(plus no one has asked for pics?)

please someone just answer the questions......

                          1. is there a service menu for a Technika TV LCD40HD-READY??
                          2. how do i access it
                          3. is there a reset function with either the tv buttons or the remote
                          4. would the child lock be able to "lock out" the tv
                          5. do i need a fully functional remote for the above tv to be able to gain access to all of the above?

thats it, thats all i need to know to be able to move forward

you dont go taking a tv to pieces when the remote stops working do ya?? ya get Fing new batteries in first (example)

no offence intended in this post by the way, i know what your all saying, but it still aint answered the question

if no one knows the answers then fair enough, ill strip it down and check every thing when ive checked with the new remote ive ordered, when it arrives, and take it from there

My error on pics, was getting mixed up with "what OEM?" question.

                            1. maybe, depends on OEM, 99% of the time will require TV to be on
                            2. as above
                            3. as above
                            4. I very much doubt it - it would still have menu access with a code prompt IMHO
                            5. in most cases a remote with numpad, channel up/down, volume up/down, menu/back/exit/return/source buttons in required, original usually not.

It takes me 10 minutes to strip a cheap TV like one of these down to the boards. I doubt you're saving much time.

Well--All the time messing round writing all these posts....

Only takes minutes to take the 22 screws outta the back and have a look!

'Technica' is a Marketing Name used by Tescos. Tescos buy the cheapest crap--from whoever will sell to them, stick their shitty labels on and then flog to the unwary!

--It IS TESCO we talking about, after all!

Most likely its a Vestel--But Might NOT be, hence the NEED for pictures of the set Internally!

There is no 'code fits all' for these issues, so demanding one will get you nowhere!

I dunno! a PICTURE speaks a Thousand words, someone much more intellegent than me once said.......

I'm outta here, done wasting time with this one.
