    Panasonic TH-50PX75U Plasma 10 blinks?

I was given this TV and was told it would at first it just had 10 blink code, but he said later it would sometimes come on for 3-4 minutes first and then go out.

I can't get it to go off, it's been going for hours now. I thought at first it may be the MC201/301 caps.

Any ideas what would cause that for him and not me?

I've had physical shock (flexing) those capacitors make a difference, try pressing gently on them (while power is off) and see if you can get the fault to come back. You can also check SOS history from service menu, I think, to make sure previous owner counted 10 times properly.

Intermittent fault and probably is those modules. I had a PZ80 with similar issue, sometimes work then not, reflowed that cap worked for a month or 2 solid then quit good time.

Re: Panasonic TH-50PX75U Plasma 10 blinks?

So I did press on them this morning before turning on, and TV turned on normally, but I noticed a few minutes later TV was off giving 10 blinks.

That same cycle repeated after unplugging it.

So I shot some freeze spray on both MC201 and 301 and now it won't turn on at all, just gives one click and then the 10 blinks.

My modules look a little different than the others, which cap is it?

Does it still seem like those caps?

Usually one to the left of the IC. This is the VBIAS voltage for the IC, about 12.5V from memory.
When it becomes leaky, VBIAS drops and IC does not work properly, hence 10 blinks.
So see if you can check voltage across it, be careful not to short anything.

I get 12V across cap on MC301 when I first plug it until it starts giving 10 blinks. The cap at MC201 is not showing any voltage at this point.

Could you highlight MC201 and MC301 on this pic so we know which is VSUS and which is 15V/VDA.

              But that does sound bad.

OK so MC301 is for 15V/Vda, MC201 is for Vsus. So it could just be MC201 fault. Both should have 12V bias voltage once relay clicks (I believe they're on the same supply rail.)

I think you should replace both caps. 1uF/25V.

On these 2007 sets missing Vsus will trigger a 10 blink fault but only if turning on (green light flashes then clicks off, 10 blinks...) I had 42" with a false Vsus detection error causing 10 blinks. Missing 15V will also trigger a 10 blink fault but it will do it immediately after a few green flashes. In the case of missing 15V, you may be able to put set into standby.

I have some 10uF/50V caps will that work?

Yes that's what happens it won't give the 10 blinks until it is switched on.

Out of interest, do you get brief fan spin up?
10uF should be fine, but there is the risk the start up delay could be too long. If it fails to work (10 blinks intermittently or always) with 10uF, move to 1uF.

OK got the modules out. The other posts are I saw seem to be based on the TEA1611 chip but it is this cap right to the left of the IC.

Ill probably remove old cap and connect the negative leg directly on pin 9 of IC, and positive leg to pad connecting to pin 11.

Ill Let you know what happens.

Neat, I would use glue to secure them though.

Awesome, TV came right on!! Let's see how it goes for a few days.

As always big thanks for the help!

Spoke too soon, just shut down with 10 blinks when hooked to a source.

10 blinks when hooked to a source is a different cause. I get it now and then with my PZ80. If the HDMI device on the end is live, some kind of glitch occurs. You have to turn off the TV when doing this, sometimes. It happens about 1 out of every 10 times. Call it a feature or bug.

This is different though. I just unplugged TV and hooked up HDMI, then turned it on and as soon as the picture came on it shut down with 10 blinks.

OK so now without a source it was turning on. But I changed the input to TV and of course just get a snowy pic but then the TV shuts down as soon as it shows the snow.

So it seems like whenever it gets a full screen picture it's shutting down.
