hello all

i found a Samsung ln32b360c5d on side of the road SCORE!!! but it has a busted screen are there any other Samsung models that are compatible with this model or are there any other brands that are compatible??

Hey bayou metal, don't know I you performed a search in this forum yet or not but I pulled up 6 thread. You might be able to glean some info there.
As I understand it a cracked panel is pretty much worst case scenario.

ok so its called a "panel" not "screen" i'm looking for a replacement, are other Samsung models compatible with this one, i'll look for another one using the right name.

Best thing you can do to be absolutely sure is to take the back off and look for the model number that way, to determine the make of the screen without taking the back off is to look at the model number on the rear of the Tv, after it you will see a letter, can be "S", that's a Samsung panel, or "C", I believe this is Chimei, there's also "A", this is for AU optronics and there can be others too. It's very important to know this as the same Tv model can use different makes of screen and so slightly differing internal parts, especially T-con cards so when buying watch for this.

If you want the cheapest avenue for a replacement screen buy a Tv with an electrical fault rather than just a replacement screen, if your lucky enough to find one it is potentially the cheapest way, good luck and happy hunting, Andy.

It's rarely worth it - for $150 you could buy a used 32 inch.

Tom is the man around here and he's right on both counts but that's not to say you can't have a bit of fun with this project, it's just going to cost some money, open it up and have a look inside, good luck, I hope you get it working.

the trouble is i guess you have never saw this set working the psu/main/or t con could of failed the person who owned it may of got angry and smashed the screen so in the long run there could be more issues i guess costing more money.

Probably the best way of making any money on this, if indeed it's your intention, is to sell the parts off, you might end up refunding someone for a faulty part but your still be better off, worth a consideration I think.
