I don't about this one looks like a bad panel for $100.00 I don't think it is worth working on . Could sell the boards but I don't see much demand for them. Would using thermal pad on the tab bonds help this. I just don't need a boat anchor.

Yep that's tab bond failure. Its 50/50. Sometimes it is a success sometimes not. Certainly worth a shot. Its an xbr5. Its a popular set

I have had good luck with tab bonds. I have a 46-xbr5 fixed the tab bonds almost two years ago and no problem yet. I'm going to call the guy and pick it up. Thanks for the knowledge it means a lot getting a second even third opinion before buying. Thanks Again.

I talked them down to $50.00 going to get it today. I Will post pictures of the tab bond fix.

or 52xbr5 ? These sets take some time to fix (at a cost of 10 cents !). I have repaired 3 of them now. If you're persistent - they are fixable. The key is to fiddle and get the ribbon cable in the right place and stabilized. seems like its always the top left buffer. If u think its the tcon board - its not.

I have a service manual but it's in an *mht format that I can't post as an attachment. If you PM me I can e-mail it to you. Got to say though, I didn't find it very useful. About the best thing I got out of it was the fault codes.

Can't find the pics of the Sony , but here are some of a Samsung I did. Did them both the same way with thermal pad. I do tab bonds with the tv standing up with just the bottom screws holding the frame on. That way I can try over and over until I get the sweet spot that keeps the picture sharp and clear.

Can't find the pics of the Sony tab bonds , but here are some of a Samsung I did. I do the tab bonds with the set standing with only the bottom screws holding the frame. I found doing it that way I can check with the frame on the picture over and over with no chance of the glass panel moving , and getting broken.

What was the model of that Samsung?

I'm 99% sure it was a LN52A850 with ghosting problems. I do a lot of tab bonds . 4 out of 5 get fixed only because of the thread about thermal pads for the fix. I used to use the little plastic bumpers , but it was a 4 out of 5 failure rate. Standing up is so easy compared to lying panel down can watch the picture as you try different points on the tabs. No chance of the panel sliding off to take a look at the screen.
