    Philips 37PFL5522D Blink code?

Picked this set up yesterday, it powers on after unplugging at the wall and plugging back in on a few occasions but most of the time it doesn't come on and the led blinks away

After the blue turn on led it proceeds to turn red and blinks like this

    1 blink-off and wait-6 blink-off and wait 2 blink-off

and it continues to do this until the tv may eventually turn on

Have looked at caps, no obvious faults, startup caps at fault?

Once it's been on for 10-15 minutes I can turn it off and on as much as I like and it works like normal

Get the chassis code from the back for example LC5.9E-LA which will be useful in locating service manual. Philips TVs do use blink codes plus they also log them in the service menu so you might be able to see what the cause of it shutting off is.

      LC7.2E-LA

so if i can get the tv back on access the service menu?

ok got into the SAM menu

      error code appears

      6 2 13 0 0

from the service manual, 6 being the last error,

6: I2C error while communicating with the NVM

      2: 12v missing or low

      13: DVB HW Communication error

12v, appeared to be fine when the set wouldn't power on

trouble is once i've powered it on , it takes some time to replicate the symptomns again, i've cleared the error code in the mean time anyway to see what error i next get

I'd focus on that 12v .... A good chance it's the cause of the other errors. Check connectors and cold joints. Maybe it's dropping out just before it powers on? Could also be a detection error.

          ok

          psu or main?

seems caps would be a no as they all appear to be rubycon

can't get it to replicate the problem again just yet

but took readings anyway 12v is at 11.90v in standby and when on it rises to 12.30v

            seems you are correct tom

12v is not there when the fault occurs

ok after clearing the error code and getting the tv to power back on

the error code is 2, +12v Protection error - low or missing 12v

                Re: Philips 37PFL5522D Blink code?

i've been reading into other 2 blink protection mode errors and some have solved it by replacing a resistor

I can't find much from the service manual about tracing down the 12v fault

                any suggestions?

I'd try checking other rails, things like 5V main and 24V, aree they also missing?

i can't see any markings for a 24v the 5v appears to be there on both connectors

pictures of the boards if you can point them out to me unless i'm being blind

I removed the power board yesterday and never noticed this

On close inspection i can see a broken component it was still half hanging on the board but come off after i touched it

both are leading the 12v pins, this the problem i presume?

edit: I noticed a few times i'd hear a pop from the speakers when trying to power on it wasn't all the time but did happen and looking at the SCH now it appears those 12v lines are part of the audio

I just can't make out the part numbers from the SCH would anyone be able to help, i've attatched the portion of the diagram

That's a ceramic cap, is it shorted?

the whole cap was actually just hanging on so to speak and when i touched it it just fell off

don't have the set out atm as was put away for a rainy day

It could have caused your problem. My guess would be 100n ceramic. Value not critical, it is for high frequency noise suppression.
