I replaced the backlights in this unit and only half of them are now working. The strips were bad, I could see a few LEDs that blew up. The power supply outputs 190V to the LEDs in the working strip (1-2 and 3-4) and the non working LEDs (5-6 and 7-8) have 120V on + and 65V on -.. Using chassis as ground point. Any suggestions

Was the connector for the led backlights disconnected before you replaced? Also do you own an led light tester? Where strips new? Or used? These are edgelit leds and alot more fragile than direct array -
Is the TV already put back together?
Generally this is what you should do, leave all boards on tv when changing backlights, disconnect PSU from main board. Change the lights, don't put anything back together and the plug in the PSU. When you do all the lights will turn on, if they don't you can diagnose while it's all still apart. That's likely where you need to be. Basically all the way broken down again and then plug it in to see. You probably just didn't connect it back in.
Or one time (won't do it again) I stuck my led tester into the plastic bracket to test the LEDs (at PSU while PSU was removed) because of a odd occurrence. In doing so I pushed a little too hard and the metal contacts spread apart which are supposed to connect to the PSU. When it was fixed the lights wouldn't turn on anymore even though they all tested fine. I thought it was PSU but then I realized I spread the contacts apart by sticking the probe too hard into them. So I had to bend it all back into shape and then the PSU made contact again and voila back to working
This second part probably isn't the case but if I was dumb enough to do that lol maybe someone else did also.
So break it back down again is likely what needs to happen!Comment

Definitely good to know, so now it's either the connector or the PSU. You can use continuity mode and test that cable from one end to the PSU connection point. See if it isn't broken some how. Whenever I change backlights on these tvs the connector into the lights get very brittle and break sometimes. Luckily I've been able to still use them all. Let us know what you find the problem isComment

by KingfreddieOk.. this is the story:
Have an old Samsung LED 3D TV (UE55F6475). First it started to lose light on the lower 40% of the screen now and then. Like for 10-60 mins and then it would work again. Then a bit later it just got stuck in that position. The lower 40% of the screen is dark, and it gets progressively darker the lower u go so it's obviously that LED strips where not working. I also looked for similar errors online and saw an exact copy and on that one it was faulty LED strips.
This is kinda how it looked, just that mine were at the bottom of the screen:

by edugimenoHi There!
Having fixed 5-6 TV sets by replacing full LED strips, and having watched other people fix that by replacing just one LED in the strip, my question now is what should I consider before doing so.
At this time I have some old strips removed from TV's with all but one LED working. Are there different voltage/current LED on different strips? Are 99% of them just the same and interchangeable?
How do you find which specific model is needed for each strip? When I check if a LED is OK by attaching the multimeter leads to the individual led pads on the strips I... -
by DennisKalHi, I am working on a 2020 Samsung QLED QN55Q80RAFXZA Version FA02. On Christmas Day, the TV made an odd sound while off (in standby). After that it would not turn on. There was no red standby light.
Based on what I read on the net, I ordered and replaced the Power Board, the Main Board and the LED Driver board with a kit from TVPartsToday. After these were installed, the TV would start up and play the startup tone but the screen was still dark. By shining a flashlight onto the screen, I could see the faint image that was on the screen as it was in the startup mode looking for... -
by tmhobadcapThis tv is with sound but no picture. When light shines on the screen, we can see the image. This is a typical backlight problem. I opened it and found quite a lot of the leds are damaged. But the damaged ones are all shorted. No one is open. Is there a special reason? (From my past experience, both can be happened)
When I supply 3V to each of the good leds, the currents range from 105mA to 154mA. From these figures, I think the leds are 3V and about 0.5W. I plan to replace all the damaged leds only (because the price of the led strips is very expensive), but I could not find 3V 0.5W... -
by IT&TVHobbiesI have an LG 50LF6090-UB that had a picture but started flashing on and off. Tested the LED strips and it had several bad LED's. Replaced the LED strips and turned the TV on and it only had the backlights on. Researched the issue and purchased a TCON board online. This did not fix the issue. Researched again and purchased a Main board on line. This didn't fix the issue either. The only thing now is that the backlights turn on as soon as I plug in the tv without touching the power button. Any help to identify the problem would be appreciated.
