I have a Samsung plasma PN50A550 that seems to have similar problems as posted else where, but not with the simple solutions. It cycles and flickers on and off for 15-20 minutes, making clicking sound every time it automatically turns on and off, makes a very loud screeching sound, until the picture finally clears up, then it works just fine. I took a look at the capacitors and none of them appear bulging, all the soldering looks fine on the back of the boards. Any suggestions? I've read about reflowing the main board but don't know how or if this is even safe.

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50A550
There's an issue with a capacitor on the main board under the RAM chips causing this problem, will try and find the thread. It's a surface mount tantalum, yellow or black in colour. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50A550
Hi Tom, I'm having the same issue with my main board...if I heat the board a bit the TV comes on as normal. When cold it does the start up cycling bit till it gets warm and then starts up. I have been using a hair dryer to kick start it but if I knew which cap to replace, that would be fantastic. Did you happen to find the thread about the cap below the memory chips? Any chance you know the cap # i.e. C271?
I would be grateful for any help
Thanks
Jeff

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50A550
Replacing the C102 tantalum capacitor worked like a charm. Easy to remove and resolder. TV turned right on! No more on/off, clicking, or having to warm up the board with a blow dryer. Turns on right away. Great fix for $1.50 replacement part. Thanks to everyone posting here.

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50A550
Hello guys,
Thank you for the great advices.
Our PN50A550 was doing the clicking of death.
So I changed the c102, and 2-3 on the power supply board without success.
There was almost no voltage at the output of the psu to the logic board. (0.xxx v.)
After a while I checked the fuses... which I should have done first. There are 3 fuses. The top center one was blown out.
Replaced the fuse and tv work jusg fine.
I will order another c102 cap exact model in case for the future.
I replaced both 330uf on the left and 1x 820uf capacitors on the psu.
Regards

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50A550
We fixed the cycling and clicking issue but now we have 2 thin lines (mainly red and blue in color) on the far left hand side that showed up 6 months after 2nd mother board replacement plus the new capacitor. This TV is only 2-3 years old and been problematic since it was 6 months old.
