HP PL4260N: YSUS & VS issues

Hello all - I was given an HP PL4260N plasma that had the common sound issue, but no pic. I found the 4a fuse at FS2 open. Replacing the fuse caused the power supply to go in to protect mode. Unplugging the connector from the PS to the YSUS gave me back ~190v at the VS pin of the loose connector.

At the YSUS board, I measured a dead short between VS and ground pins. I pulled the YSUS board and found one of the FET's was shorted. I pulled both of the W9NK70Z FET's and sure enough, one was shorted. The other I tested as follows using a DMM on auto/ohms:

    - Connect the 'Source' of the MosFet to the meter's negative (-) lead.

    - First, touch the meter positive lead to the MosFet's 'Gate'.

    - Now move the positive probe to the 'Drain'. You should get a 'low' reading. The MosFet's internal capacitance on the gate has now been charged up by the meter and the device is 'turned-on'.

    - With the meter positive still connected to the drain, touch a finger between source and gate (and drain if you like, it does not matter at this stage). The gate will be discharged through your finger and the meter reading should go high, indicating a non-conductive device.

    The other FET tested ok.

After some reading, I took a leap and assumed the IPM was bad. I pulled the old one (could write an article on doing that carefully and without damage) successfully, and sure enough - it was physically 'blown". See left had side of the bottom where two of the components are lifted right off the board - and included black marks on the YSUS board.

I also checked the board for bad caps via an ESR tester - and also a meter for shorts.

So I ordered a new IPM module, ceramic fuses and a pair of the W9NK70Z FET's. The parts arrived and I installed the new IPM (could write an article on doing that carefully and without damage), and replaced both FET's. I checked all my work and connections, no short to VS, and fired it up.

The PS went in to protect. I checked everything again, applied power and this time the fuse popped. After a 2 hour break, I came back and one of the new FET's was shorted. I pulled the YSUS board again - checked again for any issues - including the buffer board. The buffer board shows no sign of physical damage - and doing a simple ohms test between connector fingers does not show or different reading between the two side of the buffer board.

I replaced the second bad FET with the one good one I pulled earlier and same issue - PS goes in to protect. I now read 365k between VS and ground - seems low...

So - all I can think of is that I either have a bad IPM, or something else is wrong on the board. The IPM was purchased from a trusted vendor and sold as new.

    Any advice? Words of encouragement?

Any thoughts on other tests before I replace the IPM again?

Wanted to share a link I found.

      http://www.goldhand.com.pl/rtv/schem...-led-vf152.htm

Need to use translate - but I found another service manual for my HP - which is basically the same as an AKAI PDP4273M1. A lot more detail and some board schematics!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

        Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
        by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
        CN6401
        Pin 01 NC
        Pin 02 NC
        Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
        Pin 04 "N/C"
        Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
        Pin 06 "GND": N/C
        Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
        by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
        • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
        • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
        by Hakuu
        Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

        More Details
