Can I use this cap as a replacement?

    Hello all

I am repairing a 42" Philips Plasma T.V and found a cap that looks like it has overheated and is losing its frock!

I have tested it (not precisely) and it appears OK but I'd like to change it anyway.

The original black 1000uf / 35v / 85c is the bottom one in the picture and I want to replace it with the blue one 1000u-m / 35v / 105c.

I don't know why they are different colours or if it matters and I don't know why the blue one says u-m and not uf. On my meter they both show about 1000uf so I'm confused!

I am told it will be fine but because the sizes are different, it's bothering me so thought I'd check it out with the experts first.

    Thanks for helping.

Assuming that u-M means 1000uf that's fine performance wise. However please check the temperature rating on the blue cap. You would want to use the same or higher temperature rating.

On a side note, your original cap was a Rubycon, that is a very good brand. I would be hesitant to change it out for an inferior product if it's still working as it should.

Doubt the cap is bad, Rubycon rarely fail!

OK that's convinced me, it's going back in! Why has it's dress come down? Never seen that before!

Heat, the label was made a little too big, not a big problem. Rubycon can last a long time, even at high temperatures.
