    Samsung LNT4671FX/XAA Video Problem

Thought I'd start a new thread for this one. I've got this TV working, by replacing the FRC board, but I'm still getting weird results with the display. Often, the TV has trouble displaying graphics, such as DVD menus or overlay graphic on sporting events. DVD or bluray video is fine, but the graphics (like subtitles or menus) are often displayed twice or flicker annoyingly. Below is a picture of my XBOX media center with the menu repeated both in the top and the bottom of the display. Anyone have any idea what would cause this? I'm thinking the replacement FRC board isn't working correctly...

What was the problem you were having with the TV before you replaced the FRC board?

It would power up normally but after about 10 minutes the bottom half of the screen would blank out and the tv would begin continuously rebooting. Swapping out the intermediate board (FRC) solved that problem. I've assumed that the issue was heat realated, either bad caps on the FRC board or bad solder joints on the processor on the FRC board. I haven't messed with the old board or checked the caps.

It has the tab bond problem, its extremely common with this model Samsung. (I had over 5 same panels with the exact same problem)

The FRC board is not your issue, and Im sure the first one before you replaced it is still perfectly working. but while removing the back and moving around the panel, the tab bonds were able to get a better connection and temporary solve your problem.

To get a better fix out of it youll need to remove the frame and place something in between the tabs and frame in order to give some pressure to the connections.

That being said.... I have encountered issues with FRC and static interfaces before.. I would try turning off motion enhancement in the menus. There may be a software update for this TV to fix this issue, from Samsung. If the TV has a service or customer USB port, installation is simple.

Interesting. Why would a tab bonding issue only show up when graphics are displayed? I can watch an entire Bluray movie with no problem EXCEPT when the menus are displayed. That sounds like processing to me, not a physical bond issue. I did attempt to "reseat" the connections when I first got the TV and it didn't help. Only switching out the FRC brought it to life.

Tom, I've turned off the motion enhancement with no change. I'll see if there's a software update.

Hm I just briefly read it over and looked at the photo. Wait so it only happens when the menu is displayed? Otherwise itll be fine?

Yep. Occasionally broadcast signals like commercials will have trouble too, but only on certain "cuts". So... say in the commercial, there will be a cut away to another scene, which will jitter or double the image, but when it cuts back to the prior scene it's fine. Very weird. I'm going to pull the FRC board and test the capacitors.
