SANYO LCD-32XR12F; standby blinks 5 times and then all dead

Picked up from a person, was hoping for the simpler leaky-cap failure after they described how it was difficult to get to turn on until it just stopped turning on.

On powering up, the standby light blinks 5 times, then it's all dark.

Testing the 12V and 5V lines on the logic board show that the PSU seems to be doing fine.

The side power/menu/etc buttons generate appropriate voltage levels ( resistor divider ) but no response by pressing any of them.

Remote control doesn't seem to invoke any responses either.

Can't find a service/schem manual anywhere, might just end up binning it.

Managed to find a sufficiently similar schem ( Sanyo 32" ), showing 5V-standby at 5.128V, so that's acceptable.

Pressing the power-on button pulls the line down to GND but no power on results.

What I cannot find in any of the service manuals though is the meaning of the 5 blinks on power up.

Previous owner states that the unit became progressively less responsive to user inputs [ from remote? ] over time until such that it now doesn't start.

Pondering if perhaps the main CPU needs reflowing :\
