I purchased this tv off craigslist not working, the guy had already tried to "fix" it so the main board was already out of the tv. I put the board back in and tried the tv. The tv tried to power on but sounded like it was going into protection mode and shutting off, nothing came up on the screen. There was a place on the main board where some of the surface mount IC's looked like they had experienced a failure so I bought another SSB board and plugged it in. Now I am getting the tv to power on and stay on but as it is starting up I hear a loud pop in the speakers and then the screen comes on. The screen only shows this white and black maze of sorts. I attempted the diverstiy code instructions that you are supposed to perform when changing the SSB board and it seemed like it accepted the code as it turned off when I punched in the code and then I tried to turn it back on but it is the same screen. Sometimes that screen even goes on and off from black to white/black maze. I am attaching a picture. Am I just not doing something right or are there other issues I still need to resolve?

Re: 50PFP5332D/37 Phillips Plasma Weird Screen Display
Does this TV use LG or Samsung plasma module?
If Samsung follow these instructions to see if your control board is bad:

A sequence of test patterns is expected. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: 50PFP5332D/37 Phillips Plasma Weird Screen Display
What if there are no test patterns when you jumper the wire? Can I assume the TCon Board is bad as well? This model seems to have another board in between the input/main board and the Tcon Board, a small board that the LVDS cable goes into and comes off of and then goes to the main/input board.

Not necessarily; this is an older panel, and the test pattern mode may be different. Can I see the connector you did the jumper on?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I don't know what the button does.
That looks like a normal control board test pattern connector. But try all four pin combinations to be sure. Pin 2-4 may do it on this connector. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: 50PFP5332D/37 Phillips Plasma Weird Screen Display
The Y-Sus or X-Sus should play a factor is this should they? Are there any other boards that would cause such a screen? What are the buffer boards on the bottom do? If you look close there are patterns in like different 1/4 sections of the screens.

Re: 50PFP5332D/37 Phillips Plasma Weird Screen Display
The only boards that could cause this are the main board and the control board, the control board being the most likely. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: 50PFP5332D/37 Phillips Plasma Weird Screen Display
To answer your question about the bottom buffer boards, they are fancy connection blocks for the PDP Data Driver ICs attached to the plasma panel. The DDICs program the panel with pixel information. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!
