Insignia NS-LCD42HD-09 turning on and off by itself

I have had this set for several years and had really no problems til now. Let me explain what it is doing. When first powered on, the set will work fine for about 1.5 - 2 hours. After that at it's own will, it turns off, waits awhile, then back on by itself. There is no set time interval I have been able to track accurately. Once it fails, it will at random come back on, and anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes later will shut off again. If the set is turned off, as for the evening, it will turn itself on in the middle of the night, at random.

In my first attempt to fix the set, and after reading posts elsewhere, I replaced the power control board with a "new" one from an Amazon.com supplier. It did not correct the on and off power cycling I'm experiencing. So now I'm lost.

I would appreciate any help in getting me going in the right direction to fix this problem. Thank you in advance.

Power control board - is this the one with the on/off button?
Have you tried removing remote batteries while using it to rule out stray remote signals?

The power control board receives the 120 vac power, and rectifies / transforms the logic and power voltages. The board with the on-off button is a small board mounted on the chassis, and wires to the main board via a small cable. The main board also receives it's voltage through cables from the power supply board.

I have not tried removing the batteries from the remotes, but I will try that. I doubt it is a remote control problem. But... hey that would be a fix for the records.... I'll try it tonight.

      Thank you for your reply.
