LG PG5010-UA Plasma Blinking LED and Clickling

Found a 50 inch LG plasma Model PG5010-UA with a Power Supply Problem,

Tried it with just the power supply connected to AC all other boards disconnected and problem stayed, Looked at the board for bad caps can't see any that look bad, Removed the bank of four 3300uf 10V caps and tested them on a LCR meter and two showed a reading of 3500uf but I suspect this is ok, Checked all the fueses on the board none blown, Removed and replaced the two mosfets Q801 and Q802 as I read it is a common problem they where not shorted but one was not exeactly the same as the other and just replaced them as I had them, But none of this has fixed it, Next is to replace the caps if I can find them local, Any other ideas? I will check all the voltages VA Vs this time when I pull it out, I left the TV at a buddys place cause my wife would kill me to hear i picked up more stuff from the trash.LOL

Have you checked if main board is getting correct voltages and if the RL-ON and/or PS-ON signals are varying? You can also do a logic board test and eliminate all boards except main board from being bad, but you will need some 470 ohm resistors to force PS-ON and/or RL-ON to 5V.

no I had all the boards disconnected but the ac to the power supply, so just put the 470 ohm from ps-on and rl-on to gnd?

From PS-ON to 5V, RL-ON to 5V, jumper the points marked EXT AUTO GEN on logic/control board and unplug main board power and LVDS.

        Test patterns should appear.

            Tom,

I went to go try and do what you susgested but could not find anything on the logic/control board that said EXT AUTO GEN to short out or jumper, Also went to go test the power supply voltages and could not get anything off of VA or VS I still suspect it could be a power supply but i did unplug just to connector to the main board and when i plug the power in it only clicks once, but with the main board connected the relay keeps clicking on and off and a led on the main board LD703 is amber and the other is green ld400. I can get a power supply for a good price but don't want to replace it if it is the main board, any ideas

Can you supply a picture of the control board?

here is a picture of the control board it is a picture of the same board as I don't have the tv near by.

The second image is the same with the ESMT chips

I can see Ext Auto Gen on there, just under the pink sticker and near "VS_DA" test point also labelled. Jumper the two holes indicated.

Sorry was looking for a header i will try putting a jumper across the two and get back to you.

Well tried that and nothing with the main board connected it still just clicks on and off with the connector for the main board disconnected it does nothing. Is there something i am not doing correct?

Hmm, OK, do you have or can you get hold of a couple of 470 ohm resistors?

OK, see the pins on the power board (going to main board) marked VS-ON, RL-ON and/or M-ON? Run a 470 ohm resistor from 5V STBY to each of those pins. Disconnect connector. Then plug the power supply in. Vs, Va should come up, relay(s) should click.

Then turn set off, apply EXT AUTO GEN, with main board LVDS disconnected, do you get test patterns?

So i put a 470 ohm resistor in the back side of the connector where it says 5v and rl_on and one for 5v and vs_on and removed the connector to the main board when i plug it back in get a click and a green led lit on the control board and then it turns off tried a jumper from auto ext gen and vs_da and nothing also no voltage on va or vs

OK, now please remote EXT AUTO GEN but leave the resistors in place. Check Vs and Va voltages? They are low? If so, unplug the Y-sustain, do the voltages rise? If not, unplug the Z-sustain, do they rise?

With the resistors in and either the y or z disconnecter or both disconnecten i do not get any voltage on vs or va

Hmm. OK, it sounds like your power supply is bad. Just to be sure, can you show me how you wired up the resistors and how you are testing Vs and Va?

I was reading vs and va from the sus connectors on the power supply and the gnd from the connector but also tried gnd from chassis ground the resistors where from the back of the connector from 5v to rl on and vs on from the connector going to the main board
