Component identity help - Sharp 42SB48UT

I've searched on Google and this forum and I can't find the answer I seek.

A friend's TV stopped working after a storm and I offered to look at it for them. When you press the power button, there is no light of any kind. I tried the quick 10 sec power button reset, no dice. Opened it up and found 1 component that had a burn mark. No caps we popped or burned so I decided to start at the burn mark. My compananet was in IC903 and another thread on this forum ( https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22282 ) lead me to realize it's called the standby chip. The storm burned the standby chip by also blew half of it off so I can't read the number to buy a replacement.

As I removed this part, two of the prongs came off, so there are 4 on one side and 2 on the other.

The right half was ripped off, but the left text reads:
    Logo
    TNY2
    69

My guess is that it reads TNY280P or TNY 280G with 698 on the second line.

    1) How can I find the replacement number? (Or what is it?)
    2) Where can I buy a replacement part?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Matt from Dallas

if this is your psu (adtva2415sa4), then it is tny277pn. you need to go by board number, not model as there will be multiple boards used for most tv's.

Good tip to know! Totally makes sense. And you nailed it, I have a adtva2415sa4.

How do I figure out the second number on the part? Can I buy the part in the store, or do I need to order online?

just put in tny277pn in the search bar at mouser and it will bring it right up. digikey will most likely stock it too.

73633b is the rest of the numbering, but you dont need it to order it.

if this board is storm damaged, you will most likely be looking at multiple component failure. the board is under $70 at shopjimmy, but the choice is yours as to what suits you best.

        good luck!

          Thanks a ton!

It's for a friend, so I'll see what the are interested in buying. I think it's been sitting on the ground in a spare bedroom for over a year.

Any other tell-tale signs I can look for to find failure? This is the only piece that has any physical damage to it at all.

i dont have one of those boards to compare with, but i would check every component on the board, including the smd's.
im going over a power supply at the moment that fried from a surge and already up to 9 components and im only half way through it.
i dont think that i would even try to boot it up without a variable power supply either!

I've noticed that those TNY2xx chips are very susceptible to surges!

If you are lucky, the burned chip took most of the surge, and nothing else is damaged ... if you are lucky! xD

I replaced the power supply and am waiting on my TNY chip to arrive. Thank you for the advice/answers!
