Hi, I need some advice on where to begin checking my LCD TV for problems.
The TV was off and plugged into the wall. There was a brief power outage that lasted a couple minutes. When the power came back on the TV's power LED was constantly blinking. The TV will not turn on. When i put my ear close to the back of the TV i can hear a very quiet high pitch sound that lasts a second and constantly repeats at a steady interval.
I had an LCD monitor with a similar problem with the high pitch repeating sound, the solution for that one was replacing a bunch of the caps. Some were obviously bad with bulging and others looked ok. That solved the problem with the monitor so I was wondering if the TV is experiencing the same thing.
Should i open up the TV and visually inspect the caps? I have a voltmeter and other basic tools and some experience with replacing components, however i still feel like a novice so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can take pictures of the components if necessary.
