just picked this up, when turned on go's red to green then to 5 blinks red, does not respond to remote so power board or main, have read 5 blinks could be loss of 5v to main,If i disconnect Y+Z Sus boards still have the 5 blink code, any help gladly received.

    Follow this guide.
    http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/...&Search=Submit

(Different model, 2008 vs 2009, but 5 blinks diagnosis still applies.)

5 blinks can also be plasma panel fault. (Not repairable.)

Thanks Tom Are you saying that the plug and pin numbers would be the same, or just the unplug test's

            Re: panasonic TX-P42S10B 5 blinks

Looks like it fell at the first fence, checked for the 5v on pin 5 plug P25 and when you switch on it jumps to 4.99v then drops away as the fault code starts to blink,so looks like a D board fault,I will try and see if i can find any thing shorted when i take out the board,Any one found any common faults with these Av boards, i had a 42G20 for parts two weeks ago and the first board to sell was the D and that went after just one day

              Re: panasonic TX-P42S10B 5 blinks

After a bit more checking and before i get a replacement D board, when i power it up i get 4.99v on pin 5 of p25 on the power board that drops of as the 5 code starts on checking for shorts on this pin there is no short, but if i unplug the y or the z board's from the power board i then get a 7 blink code.this must be telling me something but what?

                Re: panasonic TX-P42S10B 5 blinks

6, 7, or 8 blinks is expected if SC or SS are unplugged, it is due to the new design Panasonic use in 2008 onwards which detects if boards are removed.

Tom can you tell me if i can make the power supply board come out of standby so i can check the outputs before i get a new D board,as there's no short on the 5v to bring that down.

Check PANEL MAIN ON, TV POWER ON on PSU schematic, I have a G10B schematic which is same TV.

Thanks again Tom Just checked main panel on P25 Pin11 shows no change on power on .002v, !5v comes up but falls back as does Vs when 5 code starts, standby is good to, so look's more and more like the main Av don't you think.

42S1 should be close in this.

Thanks for the link, i had a 5 blink code that checked out as faulty A board, so today a replacement board was fitted this one is now giving 3 blinks so is also faulty, have contacted the seller and another board is being sent out so will hang in there till that arrives,my thinking now is there can only be a problem with the Av just need to get a working board to put this right.

replacement number two fitted now back to 5 blinks, So maybe the A board is not the problem?, i have noted that with the sc board connected i get a fizzing sound from the power board (i think the relays)and disconnected no sound, but with this set as Tom has said you get a blink code when the board is disconnected not like the old one's if the board was faulty it would power on and come out of standby.

might be worth checking the resistance 5v line on the SC board. Pin 35 at SC20 - gnd(or TP16,17-gnd )

                                SS pin1 ss33 - gnd

Thanks Tw just checked Tp 16/17 to gnd and are showing OL on 2k,before i pulled the Sc out with only Sc 2 unplugged i noted the green led on the Ss was on but if i plugged it back in i lost the green led?

Is SC2 showing shorted? Watchout for residual charge if VS has been applied to the boards recently.

Yes Sc 2 is shorted. have you worked much on these boards this is a TNPA4829 AD looks to be showing some heat around the heatsinks but no burnt out parts that i can see, will check to see if any parts commonly fail before i start pulling it all apart.

No, but I'm thinking it's a false SOS5. So if we went back to the beginning and connected all the boards and you follow this from the guide, You already had 5V until shutdown? yes?

"Find out if pins 1 or 2 of connector P35 are shorted to ground. If shorted, possibly the panel is bad. If there is no short circuit, proceed to check the P5V line.?............

........... measure resistance between pin 5 of connector P25 and ground (Chassis). If P5V is shorted, find out if it’s created on the P board or if it’s created on any of the other boards that the 5V volt is connected to."

I've rebuilt a SC TNPA5081 from the next gen FHD.

You've found no short on the P5V at SC20, I'd check the P15v resistance. Then bell out the IGBTs for any shorted.
