100 ohm to ground? It still clicks? Try with both Y-Main and X-Main unplugged.

      Voltage @ PSON 0.21v
with both x & y out clicks on, but used to do this before

That's good it should be turning on.

There is a whinnying noise coming from the power supply, presume its the transformers, changes pitch when the LED switches on & off

I am suspecting somehow both X and Y are dead, shorted. Test the resistance across Vs and GND for both boards. Expecting >500 ohms.

Vs to Grnd on Y-Main is all over the place over 20M then going down then up again
Vs to Gnd on X-Main is 0.04

So X-Main is dead, Y-Main is possibly OK but you say without X-Main, TV still clicks?

with just Y-Main connected PSU clicks once, if everything but the X-Main was reconnected would I expect to see anything on the panel?

Yes I'd expect a dimly lit picture, possibly with distortion. Like this.

ok I notice that you get the samsung sound when powering on?off, I dont have this.
When I press anything on the remote the signal is getting to the infra red receiver because the LED is flashing just nothing happens.
                      No picture of any kind.

Check in a dark room, may be very slight glow.
The design on this model may be different, you may not see any glow, but most plasma displays glow slightly and have purple picture with bad X-Main/Z-Sustain.

Ok darkened the room plug in, one click then flash of a few white lines then back to black. It can't be anything to do with the Y-buffers can it?

I've had no experience with this chassis & am aware Samsung have changed the design of their plasmas. It may be normal. I would advise you to swap X-Main (usually very cheap, around £20 for most), then see if it works. If not, we can have a closer look at the Y-Buffer and Y-Main.

Re: Samsung PS43D450A2WXXU power on fault

Got ahold of friend's plasma (also PS43D450) and diagnosed the fault as being the Y-Main. Buffers and X-Main both appear OK, as does plasma panel.

However his just clicks on and off, no power whatsoever.

New Y-Main is £14, so I've just ordered that, not worth troubleshooting too far if it's that cheap!

Amazing just three transistors on a heatsink on Y-Main and just two on the X-Main! Everything else SMD. Probably why it failed... running too hot.

Hi All, First post on here so please bear with me.
I have a Samsung PS43D450A2W that is 2 years old. Has the same problem as posted here - when try to power on the set clicks a few times, LED flashes and then....nothing.
I've been advised by a local TV repairer that it is most probably be the Z board. Now, I'm no TV expert so don't even have a multimeter, but I'm looking to try to repair this myself, but not sure:
                                      - which is the Z board?
                                      - where I would get a cheap one from (Ebay I'm guessing but what would I search for i.e. part number, is it technically the ZSUS, Z-main??)
                                      - could I fit this myself?
Been quoted over £100 to fix, hence my attempt to do it on the cheap.

If you look at the first picture in the first post, the Z-Sus, or X-main as Samsung calls it, is the tan-colored board on the far right that connects to the panel. If it is faulty, you can replace it yourself. ShopJimmy.com is my favorite place to buy these, but you can also find them on eBay. Use caution when buying on eBay.

You can take the repair man at his word, but there's also a chance that the Y-main, which is the tan-colored board on the far left that's connected to the long vertical board, could also be damaged. You can try the less scientific approach to testing, which could also cause further damage, or you can buy a meter and do a test:

                                        (1) Less scientific test:

                                        (A) With the TV unplugged, disconnect Y-Main connector from the power supply (PSU). Plug in TV then turn on. If TV powers up, suspect Y-Main or X-Main. Proceed to next step.

                                        (B) Unplug TV then wait about 5 mins for the PSU to discharge.

                                        (C) Disconnect Y-Main-to-X-Main connector then connect Y-main to PSU. Plug in TV then turn on. If TV powers up, suspect X-main and STOP TESTING! Otherwise, Y-main is faulty. X-main may also be faulty, since they're chained.

                                        (2) Here's a more scientific approach: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...74&postcount=5

                                          Hi Guys,

I recently repaired my PS43D450A2WXXU where I suspected that the Y-Main is faulty. Just to make sure I also ordered X-Main. After I replaced the Y-Main TV started to work however when I was watching the TV I have noticed this shivering redish/greenish maps showing up on the screen from time to time. It is especially noticable when the picture is purely white. As it is mainly happening on the side of the screen where there is X-Main I tried to replaced it as I had a spare part for it, but it didn't help. Any idea what can be wrong? Is it the display or do I need to replace also power supply or signal board?

                                          Thanks.

                                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

                                            Hi

Picked up another TV. Samsung UN43NU6950FXZA. No power and no standBy led on. Removed back cover and:
                                            Main fuse = OK
Back light LED = OK. Power them with aux power source
                                            LED output = OK 156V
I do get 12 V DC out of the power supply going to the digital section but no 5V or 3.3V. PS_on voltage is only 1.8V. I have looked everywhere on the PCB , I could not find i reference for 5V output.
Also removed connections to panel, speakers and remote but no luck. One strange thing is that even with the LED power supply working, backlight LED do not turn on...

                                            • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
                                            • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
                                            • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
                                            • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...
