Sony KDL52W3000 issue (Bunch of pics to help)

Hey guys, First post here hopefully someone can help me out. I am comfortable with testing live circuits and should have all tools needed to repair or test most electronics.

I have a Sony KDL-52w3000 TV that is coming on after a few on and off cycles (about 2-4). Sound works every time. Back light works every time. When the picture comes on everything seems great except for what seems is "Lag" on the far left side. The green "power light" comes on and stays solid like I figure it's suppose to. I do not hear any weird sounds coming from the TV I keep reading that a lot of T-con boards and main boards tend to go bad on the Sony TVs. I just need help figuring out if either is the issue.

Here are all the general pictures of the TV. If you need a specific one please let me know.

    Thank you in advance!

    Rob

This is a bad LCD panel.

It may be repairable. Different symptoms, same cause: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHst6pKLtTE

Thank you for this video! It helped me realize that I didn't have the tv apart enough...opened it up more... Pressed on a few tabs/ connectors and now it's working fine..

Another question is.... The image seems a little out of focus. Could this be a tcon board issue? Also, I don't have the remote so I don't know how to get it into 1080p mode instead of 1080i... Don't know if 1080i could be my focus issue... Just comparing it to my 42" LG at 720p(wall mounted until Sony fixed).

      Any help is greatly appreciated!

The TV will display the resolution of the Video source, if the source is 720p, it will display 720p, the source dictate the resolution. It works the same way as your computer monitor, the resolution is set by the PC (as long as the monitor can handle it) not at your monitor.
So what did you use to fix the tab?

Sony Universal or other universal remotes will work. The Sony model will cost about $10.

Sony Bravia KDL-70W850B T-CON board / software update issue
            by eclectric
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue before I give up on this TV.

In short, I replaced the T-CON board due to an error code indicating that was the problem, after which it flashed a green and orange LED meaning software update required. I cannot get the tv to do the required update via USB, so I am stuck.

Here is a rundown of the symptoms and the steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

I inherited the TV with the symptom that it would turn on, then turn off after 5-10 seconds and a red LED flashed 4 or 5 times. Sometimes it would be 4, sometimes...

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
            by Akuanka
            Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sony XR-65A95L no power due to logic board issue
            by joliver82
            Hi guys!

I'm trying to repair a TV that a friend gave me recently. Lightning struck next to his house and broke the TV apart from more electronic devices.

First of all I've checked the power supply and it works as expected. I removed the logic board and shorted the 3.3v standby output to TCON_ON and POWER_ON and every voltage was generated as expected (12v and 25v for logic board and 32v for TCON).

When trying to boot the TV normally (having the board connected), the TCON_ON signal is not generated from it which made me think there's some issue in the logic...

sony sdm-p234 very rare issue never seen before
            by GraphicMan
The monitor is old yes but occasionally used (perhaps about 1 ~2 hours usage per day on average)
one time i turned the pc on and noticed this issue
            what could it be?
nothing wrong is seen when it is off, also the issue is not there on a green screen!
when watching movies it is hard to detect unless in black screen/large shadows
            please check the images, thanks...

Issue with picture quality of Sony bravia TV
            by CyberPhoenix
Hello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...
