52" Toshiba Regza - 52Rv53u - Half Side Issue

Greetings All!

I have a chance of getting a 'cheap' aka $20 LCD. But it's experiencing half panel issues.

Recently it has had these vertical lines on the left side of the screen. Comes in and out

In general, Is it a panel that's bad, or is it a board going bad? There's a few more on craigslist like this, but have been staying away from them in fear that it's the panel.

Hmm. It is possible it is the panel. Then again, the t-con drive connections are always split in two halves for a 1080p screen. A loose connector could cause this. If it's coming in and out, it could indicate either...

For $20, it's EASILY worth the parts cost, even if the panel is dead... I'd personally take a risk on it.

I've been thinking of starting to grab bad panel TVs for "cheap" again, around the $20 price range if possible and then selling the boards. My aunt works for a garbage company and can scrap out the rest for me for a discount/free.

I think you would easily be able to sell the boards for more than $20.
