The problem:

When plugged in the power LED (front left) shows amber. When power button is pressed, it turns to green as it should. The screen comes on and says "Please Wait" as you can hear "white noise", with no antenna. Then all drops out to black screen with no backlights.

Opening set was a little tricky because of some cables that go to the back of the unit for plug-ins.

Once open, there are two inverter boards (Right and Left). These inverters are similar to the ones in other sets known to go bad and even have the same driver chip (BD9897FS), that usually goes bad as well.

I took resistance readings on the four FET's and found that one shows lower than the rest. On these boards, they should all measure 30.9K ohms but one was showing 20 ohms. This is either reading through the bad chip or this FET is bad. I will report back once I get back to it. For now, it's off to the gym.

My assumption was wrong before that they all should measure around 33K. As stated before, all but one did measure 33K, HOWEVER, once I replaced the driver chip on the slave board, the resistance readings all read 66K for all four FETs on that board. So...now I knew that I had to replace the chip on the master inverter as well. Once I did this, the measurements read the same, 66K across all eight FET's now Master and Slave.

Just for kicks, I did try the TV when only the slave chip was changed out and the TV did work, but... as I said, went ahead and changed the master chip out as well to make sure it wouldn't die in a few months.

NOW... for some reason, my sound doesn't work anymore. I had it for a little bit upon starting up before but now nothing. Great picture, just no sound.

LOOSE CONNECTOR (technician error) - All is fine now.

I have a D/L FA2B 32570 with the same problem you describe.Do you repair inverter boards? I"ve tried to find new ones on the net but can only find master boards,not the slave.

I am now working on Mr. Wrench's inverter boards.
Here are my notes:

The resistances across the FET's (master and slave) are all showing 47K ohms but one is showing 27 ohms on the slave board. I will change both chips stated above on both boards and report back.

Well...after changing the chip, the low resistance remains. I took the fet off of the board and the fet checks out ok. All other resistances went up to what I recorded from my set posted above. I went ahead and ordered the replacement slave board because if you try to replace the chip again, the pads will start lifting off the board. I will ship it asap.
