Pictures are a good start.
The X-main, and Y-main, are common failures on this unit.
Also, the power supply is made by Samsung and can succumb to bad caps. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I just fixed the same model.
After opening the back start by looking at the power supply board for capacitors with a bulge on top.
They are bad and u can buy a capacitor repair kit on ebay for $16 if your unsure about proper replacement.

There are other causes of chirp and no picture but its usually a good place to start.
Search forum for this model
if the caps look good i would start testing diodes. check zd902, zd904 and any other diodes in that area.
I looked for a replacement power supply and all I could find was a repair service for $100Last edited by ryan74; 11-27-2012, 10:44 PM.

Sorry, was getting confused with a Philips plasma. Can't remember the model number now. Samsung had no part in most of Philips LCDs.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Phillips 42 inch no picture, chirping 42PFL5432D/37
Thanks for the replys after opening up the tv I could see some of the caps are expanded on the power supply board as well as some of the caps on the board to the right of the power supply. I am going to get the caps on order and check out the diodes to see if they are bad. Will post my results when done, any other info is much appreciated thanks again
