    Samsung LN32C350D1D strange design

Got this one in today, it has broken screen, so I take it apart to see how it is built. The LCD panel is not typical, the whole top section of the panel is the LCD panel and the cabinet.
One tiny high voltage transformer to drive ALL the lamps!
    Very small main board also.

Jeez, what do people do to these TVs to do that kind of damage? Looks like someone went at it with a hammer?

Did this TV have separate T-con?

I have seen this design in older 40" Samsung LCDs, but I thought they had abandoned it in favour of the multiple-transformers driven from primary design (not sure if there's a proper name for it...)

Very interesting. I fixed one of these earlier this year (bad main board). I usually see the "U" shaped lamps in the real cheap sets. This was/is a low cost set in the stores.

You could just make a work light out of it. :P

We get a lot of TV's with crack screens, it is really sad to see one or two years old 40~60" SONY, SAMSUNG, LG at the recycle place. I always wonder what the heck they do to their TVs. I save all the boards for future repair. The T-CON is part of the LCD panel, not replaceable.I already made light tables and light sources for taking pictures already.

Agreed. It's actually quite difficult to damage an LCD screen; you have to really abuse or it be negligent.

I look forward to Samsung OLED flexible screen. I wonder if they won't implement this in their TVs because it makes them virtually indestructible (aside from other Samsung reliability problems, of course):
