My tv stopes working. It would not turn. No lights at all. I opened up the back and my fuse was blown. There is no signs of burning or fried anything. I did notice all my capacitors were bulged. I replaced all the capacitors with Panasonic from digi-key. I put it all back together and put a new fuse in it and plug it in. Well the fuse blow again and alittle smoke. Need some help on what could cause this.

A blown fuse can be caused by:
- shorted bridge rectifier
- shorted power MOSFET
- shorted main capacitor

A failing main capacitor could cause other capacitors to fail.

A good start would be to take some pictures of your TV and post them here.

Do you have a digital multimeter?

Were the Panasonic capacitors you used FC, FM or FR series?

The capacitors that I used were FR and FM series. I do have a digital multimeter.

Good choice of caps. These Philips TVs seem to have bad caps issues a lot.

OK these are your power semiconductors that may be short circuit.

Left most device. TV unplugged, check on diode test between outermost pins (this is a bridge rectifier), and innermost pins. You should get infinite for the innermost and get a low value for outermost if there's a short further down the line. If the bridge is shorted, you will get a low resistance reading between the two innermost pins. Check both polarities.

Other two devices - if they have 3 legs check on diode mode between each and every pin, if there are two just check both ways.

Is this my main capacitor? Witch I think it is. I tested it and it is bad. I also tested the bridge rectifier that you told me to test. I was confused on how to test put looked up on youtube. One of those is also bad. Thank you for the help. I know to order panasonic capacitors because I was ready your other post about what to by. Thanks for the help. You saved me a lot $$$$

Did you test the mosefets and brigde like tom suggested? If you don't know how we can walk you through it.

I tested my bridge rectifiers and main capacitor not sure about the mosefets

was the bride rectifier shorted? I put squares around what i believe are either mosfets or diodes. Mosfets will have "Q" on the board. What are the numbers on the blue, red, green & yellow squares.

Blue red and green have Q and the yellow is a D

ok, post the numbers for the 3 and we can see if they are shorted.

I circled the bad ones that are getting bad readings. I am trying to order these. How do I know witch one to get? They are really hard to read.

Is the chasis TPM2.0U LA? I believe its on the back of the tv (sticker). What are the locations on the power board (Q3 ect)? Did the large cap measure shorted in circuit with your meter?

Yes TPM2.0U LA is correct. The locations are D922, D927, Q901, c957. Yesterday I tested the large cap yesterday and both directions it was giving a low reading that my meter was beeping. Today it gives no reading.

Is C957 the large cap? The service manual in the spare parts list is showing it as a 10uf 25v????

Try and check the numbers i posted to yours on the chips. Q901 for exampleSTP10NK80ZFP. The 10NK80ZFP would be the critical numbers that need to match. STP is the manufacturer.

If they are different try and take a few pictures of the chips.

the numbers that I have are the big cap is 220uf 450v. C957

Still no luck. I replaced the parts listed above and still nothing. When I plug power into it between the fuse and fuse holder it sparks a little very weak spark. Other then that nothing. Could my board be shot or maybe not a good solder connection with the parts I replaced. Maybe just time to buy a new tv.

First I would weigh up the cost of a new power supply if fixing it is difficult. Sometimes they're as cheap as £20. You can buy a new TV, but if you do, sell your old one on Craigslist to someone who fixes TVs, you'll get £50 or so for it.
