Samsung LN-S3238D red tint to picture

    Hey guys,

Found this site when I picked up a defective Dell Monitor hoping to fix it. Since then I have picked up a Samsung LN-S3238D TV. When I plug it in (Hooked to my computer) I get a broken up picture with a red tint. The mouse moves really slow and it seems like the picture ghosts for a little bit (I move the mouse but it doesn't move on the screen, then slowly the mouse is in the correct location). Not sure where to start as I just began this hobby. I pulled the board to take pictures and noticed the solder on the power supply connection is touching the connection next to it (I attached a picture). Also, I attached a picture of the other side of the board. Hopefully, someone can help!

After reading all of the stuff that is fixed on here I can't wait to have half of the knowledge you guys have.

will you post a whole picture of the back of the tv? What panel is the tv using (white sticker on panel)?

Does LTA320WT-L16 make sense for the panel number?

Do you get red tint if you use other inputs?

Remove the cable going to the tcon and clean it with rubbing alcohol, reconnect it and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't post a picture. Does the tv function correctly other than the slow response time and red tint? (menus work, channel search, channel up/down, volume, on/off)

Sounds like a panel issue. Lots of Samsung 32 inch panels used on Sony's and Toshiba's had this problem. There is a fix posted on you tube where you install a 10 ohm resister between 2 points on the panel. I used this to fix a Sony and Toshiba 32" set using Samsung panels. Symptom was slow motion and mostly red screen. See if this s the same problem as yours.

I tried to clean the connectors and I have the same result. The image is the same if I use a computer or hook it to cable. The menus, volume and all that seem to function fine.

Hobby 1, I think that may be the same issue I am seeing but mine is considerably worse. Not sure if I want to tackle that as my first project, I will have to think it through. I posted a pic of my screen to show the issue.

                Thanks for the help guys!

The menu is stationary. Looks better than a moving picture. The screen is not getting voltage to a section of the panel. The 10 ohm resistor and jumper bypasses the defect.
Use a clean area to work, jewler's eyepiece and fine tip iron. The dots to solder to are < 1mm in diameter. Use a surface mount resistor, tape it somewhere, 30 guage silver wire. Clean hands and use large glass cleaning cloths to lift the screen off the backlight panel.
I am 2 for 2 on this repair.

I will give it a shot, not like it works anyway.

Any brand resistor or is there a particular one I should use?

any small 10 ohm resistor will work. Be sure to insulate it. I use surface mount because it is small and flat, easy to tape down and hide. Good luck.
