That's weird. It opens on my computer.

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
Okay, here are some pictures with the metal thing off. Sorry if it is not zoomed in enough. It is hard to capture the whole thing and get the details.
Here is that plug you asked about: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1344290489

Almost. I am trying to finish something else before I do that.Leave a comment:

The problem is that you almost need a microscope to see the half Japanese/English/Numeral/Symbols on the parts.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
It must have taken a NASA engineer weeks to come up with a way to pack that much stuff into that small a space. Heck there is probably enough boards in there to run the space shuttle.
To find your problem you are going to have to get some room to work by taking off as many of the metal covers as possible. The primary way to determine the solution to your problem is to check to see if you have several different power levels going to different parts of the set. On each of the boards in your set there are from 1 to x number of connectors (plastic plugs w/ wires) going from one board to another. Each of the connectors have written on the board a legend that tells what each wire is for. One wire may be for ground and one for 5volts and one for PSon or BLon etc. Please take really clear pictures of all of those connectors so that we may see the legends printed on the circuit boards.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
Can you take some of the covers off so we can see more of the boards? I am not sure of what connector you said you un-plugged.
Try to find the backlight inverter boards, I think they are under the shielded metal casings.Leave a comment:

Now I am really confused as to what the problem is.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
There are 4 connections coming from the PSU. I am going to try individually disconnecting and reconnecting them and see what happens.
UPDATE: I tried disconnecting the black plug on the bottom of the green board, a few inches away from the one you recommended, I disconnect, the fans started up for a second, when I tested it, but then it shut off again.Last edited by Senatov; 08-06-2012, 12:43 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
After careful looking at the pics, that seems to be the main power input from the filtering board next to/below the PSU.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
Well, it should click on when you press the power button. It might happen as soon as you press the button, so maybe you have just thought it was the sound of the actual power button clicking.
When our samsung plasma broke, it kept power cycling, and the relays kept clicking every few seconds. Two transistors later and some soldering, it was fixed.
I'm not so sure anymore that the connector goes to the backlight inverters. Most likely they are on the sides, under the perforated metal covers.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
op,you said the caps were checked with a multimeter?analog? digital?,the only check you can do with a dmm,of analog meter is a kick test, and capacitance measurement,it wont confirm if the caps are high esr,are all the outputs stable?and at there correct voltages?Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
Ok, I will try in a minute. I am actually working on my irrigation system at the moment. I am having a busy day off. Why do you think that the clicking did not happen when the TV worked?Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
I have attached a pic of the PSU.
I circled the relays I was talking about.
I also circled a connector which I presume is carrying ~300v DC, it probably goes to the backlight inverters. Try unplugging that and see if it turns on.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
I think the clicking your hearing is coming from the two relays next to the yellow PFC choke you pointed out.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
The light always blinks while the TV is powering up, and then shuts off when it is on. It blinked as it usually does, but then the set went out all of a sudden, now nothing happens other than the clicks.Leave a comment:

Hello Everyone!
I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died....06-28-2025, 02:57 PM -
