    TOSHIBA 42HP95 no start

i got some crazy hair up my bonnet and wanted distressed plasma to try
    an fix.

so got this TOSHIBA 42HP95 attracted to the price tag..
December 2005, i think i should have when for something newer.

was wondering if you guys want to help me fix it. i dont have a clue.

just alot of blinking from a red LED at the power button.

    checked the main fuse..its good.

i pulled the big cooling fans for cleaning...theres alot of caked dirt built up in there.

      ok yes now we're talking.
the PJ63 removed gets my tv started up however my pic looks blurry on bottom half and
the guide or source menu comes up but the tv wont stay on for more than 10 seconds or so.
must hit power button to get it back on after these 10 second shutdowns.

      edit:
      apologies.. premature..
i reconnected the big cooling fans and the system appears to aware i did.. on for a few minuts now..looking at the internal "TVGuide" screen.

yes defineately a blurry area left lower quadrant is blurry.

It's hard to see the fault, but to me it looks like a lower Y buffer failure.

                  Re: TOSHIBA 42HP95 no start

If the TV shuts off in 30 minutes with no signal that may be normal.

You should change the Y buffer soon as it could fail damaging the Y sustain. The Y buffer connects through to the plasma panel - it's the one with lots of little black squares on it.

                    Re: TOSHIBA 42HP95 no start

I take it then that this y buffer is either a board or a component module?
                    looks like?

                    also:
the blur areas seem to be the bottom corners but not the bottom central as much and the left is worse than bottom right.

                    also 2:

yes the central bottom one-third does not suffer, is limited to left and right or
express this way 1/3 and 3/3 but not 2/3.

lets try a 3x3 grid thats nine blocks. its blocks 7 and 9 that are blurry..

The Y buffer is a replaceable board. It looks like this.

Looks like your TV uses a Panasonic plasma panel. Very nice! Panasonic produce some of the best.

Not a bad price for a replacement, they are rare failures.

so all these used boards are from tvs that would have still worked more than
decent as monitors via this PJ63 pull?

I expect they are pulls from TVs with cracked screens.

Just checking, is this the board on the left hand side of your TV (looking from the rear?) It should be on the vertical edge of the screen, and there should be another board above it (the Y upper buffer.)

i obtained the 3556 number form a board horizontal along bottom behind the
                                      input panel.
have i gone in the wrong direction?

                                      ... yes i did.

TNPA3190 is the far left lower board.

Yeah you want the boards going along the vertical of the panel.

Take a picture if you're not certain.
