Is Sony KDF-E50A10 worth picking up?

This lady has left in on the curb.

Claims it just stopped working one day, and will
throw it in the dumpster if no one wants it.

But it's an older LCD rear projection 720, so
I don't know what the market would be for this
one, as it's a bit fat compared to the new models.....

grab it and power it up, probably the bulb, it is around 7 years old, at the very least you could sell the triple lcd light engine on ebay, as well as all the other boards for a few bucks and the rest of the TV can go into the plastic bin at the local dump, I grab all the screws and cabling for future repairs, and use the mirrors for home reno projects

or if repairable use it as a gaming TV or computer monitor in the garage for reading service manuals....

I pick these curbside jems up all the time and give them to retirement homes, which usually have an old 27" CRT in the common room and love the big screens, and then leave my number because everyone has a horror story about the cost of repairing electronics which always seem to fail shortly after warranty expires, I pro bono'd an lcd for a lady's kid and now the kid picks me up LCD & plasma's from the big city as they are free there

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Yeah I like the idea of helping out the old folks! I can use that to pull on the heart stings of the GF when I have a monitor opened up right across the freshly hoovered front room! lol
Fixed so far : 1 Home cinema system, 16 LCD Monitors, 4 LCD TV's
