    Vizio Plasma 50HDTV10a problem

    Hello,

I'm trying to fix my plasma tv that has a white vertical column in the center of the screen. The rest of the screen is black but I do have sound. Does any one have any experience with this or have any idea what it could be?

    Thanks!

    Walter Runyon

I have heard this may be caused by a failed Y buffer but to me it would seem more like control board or X buffer. You would do well by taking the back off your TV and photographing it so tests can be indicated.

I tried the other night to desolder one of the chips on the ysus board to see if it was burnt on the bottom but I wound up breaking it. So it definately needs a new ysus board. The ysus wouldn't cause this would it? I unplugged the zsus and the screen got dimmer so that seems to be working. I also did not find any bulged caps on the Zsus or Ysus, nor did I find any blown caps.

Should I still take a picture with the back off with no YSUS board?

What chip did you desolder from the Ysus board?!

You may as well replace the Ysus board, I'd be 98% confident (**made up figure) that it's not causing this problem.

I tried to desolder one of the big chips with the heat sink on it.....so would you still like me to take a picture of the back of the tv or will it tell you nothing without a working ysus board?

Can you post a picture of the board you desoldered / attempted to desolder the chip from?

Per http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2010...-lines-in.html, you likely need a new buffer board. Unfortunately, that y-sustain is very expensive, if you can find one. Maybe you can find a new IPM chip to repair it. If I see anything I'll post it up here.

I spoke too soon. Assuming you have a 6871QYH039 A/B/C board, which it looks like but I can't make out from the picture, you need this chip: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sanyo-Module...1#ht_500wt_969

39.85 plus shipping if you are in the US.

To me this is a problem with either the X-Main or the Logic Main boards. The Y-Main addresses the rows, the X-Main addresses the columns. I don't think it is the main (signal) board. runyonwc, does the color and intensity of the central bar change if you change signal sources?

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

The screen does not change if I change signal sources. Do you think this TV is worth repairing? Right now it seems I will have to replace 3 boards (YSUS, Main, and X-board)

A new 50" plasma is around $600, the parts will probably cost $150 total, do the math.

The main logic is most likely the cause of this problem. You'll also need a new IPM or a new Y-sustain. Fix the Y-sustain first, before attempting to diagnose the main fault. The Y-sustain is unlikely to be the cause of the problem you are seeing.

That's what I initially thought, because I'd heard it before. But it seems very strange for a Y-buffer failure.

Does this TV have two Y-buffers, or just one?

Well, when you replace or repair the Y-sustain, try running it with just one and see if you get half a picture back.

So I put in a new buffer board and used ysus. The lines in the middle are gone now but I hear a clicking coming from the ysus and the screen kinda flashes on and off with the clicking.

                                        Any ideas?

                                          Hi all:

I have a Vizio E60-E3 I am trying to troubleshoot a no power problem with. Thanks to the help on this board and elsewhere, I was pretty sure I had narrowed it to a power board problem. The board in question is a 09-60CAP0D0-00. Image attached for reference, but not of my board (tv is put away at the moment). FWIW, no obvious looking issues with the board.

I measured voltage at power in and on the fuse and saw 120V, so power is getting to the board.

On the pins out to the main board, I got no voltage at all on any of the pins. I assumed this...

                                          hello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
                                          I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

Maldischarge-link that fixes it with replacing caps
                                          by r-p
Starting this thread because Capkid doesn't seem to be reprogramming controlboards anymore (LG 60PZ950 with red maldischarge) and my game-plasma also has maldischarge (Hitachi 42PD3200). So I will grasp at straws to keep them running. I am extremely bad at throwing stuff away.

Is there any merit to this link?

Very short version: Specific caps seem to loose their capacitance and/or increase their ESR. This may cause the maldischarge. Replace them with better/bigger/newer ones and problem solved.

From the limited knowledge I have on the subject, I think...

Hi. I have a problem that has been going on for some time (2-3 years). It's hard to explain what it really is. Sometimes, my computer stops playing music, stops videos (starts buffering on youtube), there is no sound in games and when I minimize the game window and return to the game there is a black screen with window borders...

Pioneer Pro-FHD1 Elite. Failure to power on.

I'm new to this awesome forum, and have been reading like mad, but have not seen the answer to my challenge.

We bought this Panasonic plasma monitor 16 years ago and it has never been serviced, so all parts are original, and the unit has never malfunctioned -- until about a month ago. The system fails to power on. At first (a month ago) this happened rarely. We learned to unplug for a few minutes to drain the caps, then re-plug, and the monitor would start normally. Now, we plug-in, turn on the main power switch, and the...
