Re: Samsung Plasma TV - Worth Repairing?

Hi, wondering if anyone can help i have a 50" plasma tv i was watching it the other day and it just shut down, then started clicking and the red power light stated going off and on as if the tv was trying to start. So i opened the t.v. had a look around and no caps seem to be damaged but the underside of the power board was discolored in areas. So i bought a second hand one, put it in and the same problem still exists, i read further back in the forum about disconnecting the y board. So i unplugged the board on the left from the power board if you are looking at the back of the tv and the tv made the start up sound. I plugged the y board back in and the clicking came back. No caps look blown on the y board. So i am just checking that it is the y board and not the power board that is at fault before i spend another £50. I was getting onfused as some people say if there is a clicking sound its the power board? thanks for any and all help.

Re: Samsung Plasma TV - Worth Repairing?

Usually the psu is the cause for the clicking in these model of samsungs. But since you unplugged the y-sus board and it started up, it would definitely point to the y-sus board. (also the fact that you replaced they psu already)

You can also repair the y-sus. The mosfets on those boards are usually the ones that go bad.

Re: Samsung Plasma TV - Worth Repairing?

I also have a SAMSUNG T4254. OK, when I got it, it ALSO just clicked on/off, no pic. Sp, I checked "some" voltages, figured power supply is good. Then, someone on a blog just said, "just change the Y-main and the TV will turn back on with full picture." So, I bought a new Y manin and a Y-buffer. Stuffed them in, and the turned the tv on. Pictuyre, sounds, beautiful. But, then 3- minutes, I heard a small crack or pop, or muffled click and the TV went dead and back to clicking LIKE IT HAD BEFORE. Felt the Y-main board heat sinks and the BIG one was hot as hell.
Did your check. 1.) Unplugged Y-main and TV turned on with the AUDIO sounmd, voices etc., were fine. Plugged Y back in and unplugged Z-main and the TV just clicked on/off as before. SO, what the heck BLOWS THE Y-board out?
I would apreciate any advice - Am getting/ filing for a eBay refund from the seller of the Y-board. Someone please reply???? ---ROSS

Re: Samsung Plasma TV - Worth Repairing?

I hope I am not hijacking someone else's thread..I have a SAMSUNG PLASMA HP-T5054X/XAA, has sound but no picture. I bought a TV from someone that posted it on Craigslist as a broken power supply. When I brought it home, it actually has the same symptoms as my TV-no picture, sound and a green light blinking every second. Can anyone help me to get my TV running again? I am not sure where to start. I bought and replaced some parts/kit from GoJimmy but that did nothing. Here is the picture from the Y Board.

Re: Samsung Plasma TV - Worth Repairing?

Thank you for your response. I ordered this: http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn9...repair-kit.htm and replaced all the components on the y-board but the TV still has the same problem,-sound but no picture. That is all I did so far. I bought a broken Samsung HP-T5044 hoping I can use it for parts but it has the exact same problem like mine, so now I have 2 broken TVs.

Re: Samsung Plasma TV - Worth Repairing?

Hi, My HPT5064 has the same issue. Sound okay but no picture. I traced the problem with the Y-buffer board (LJ41-05121A). One of the chips fried out, as I see short to ground on the connector. Anyways, does anybody know a good place to buy these boards for a reasonable price? I do not want to put a couple hundreds to fix it. Instead buying a new TV would make more sense.

                      thanks

You blew your y-sus again. Did you check your y buffers for shorts. Bad buffers in Samsung plasma tv will blow the y-sus. set needs new buffers and y-sus.
