Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Thanks for the part number, and it's nice the manufacturer has included a marking of polarity. That indicates a diode drop should be between middle pin and each other pin, with the black terminal on the middle pin.
Let's try a test too - what reading to you get if you set your meter to diode test mode, but don't connect the probes to anything? In other words, an open circuit. I'm worried you might be confusing 0L or "1 ." for a zero.
edit: oops 1 minute too late!

Is it 0V or 0L? There is a huge difference between the two.Leave a comment:

Post a picture of the diode, or read off the part number.Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Hmm, these readings suggest they are all bad. I would desolder one of these diodes and retest out of circuit. In-circuit readings are inconclusive since other components can be affecting the readings.Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
All of them read this
i started with red on pin one then reversed, should this be done the other way?
1-2 .112V (made a click)
2-1 .162V
2-3 .162V
3-2 111
3-1 0v
1-3 0vLeave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
They are labled D704 etc etc for all the ones listed.
thye are 3pins
1-2 = 0.162 v
1-3 = 0v
2-3 = 0.162 v
However the big white risistor labled r100JSMT mpr -5W and marking on board r601 locaded near the big cap reads .4 ohmsLeave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
I shall check all of this once i get home from work but i do have a question.
These diodes i am checking are located next to the caps that do not have power on the cold side, however we seem to be not gaining the correct voltage to the caps further back on the hot side?
Wouldn't this mean the problem is further back or are we working from one end to the other to see if anything has shorted further on from the initial problem?
(just trying to work out how we work process of elimination)Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Don't let the physical packaging fool you. It is best to go by the pcb designator and look at the component part number and find its datasheet.
Also, it is a mosfet.

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
1-2 open
2-1 ~0.2V
2-3 ~0.2V
3-2 open
3-1 open
1-3 open
It depends on the type of diode (schottky, fast recovery, and if it's a dual package); I can't see the part #s.
If any reading shows 0V, the diode is almost certainly bad.Leave a comment:

1) Color code.

2) I think tom66 means these output diodes (circled in red). They have a marking that looks like
-><-
pin 1 is on the left, 2 in the middle, and 3 on the right. Set your multimeter to diode and test pins 1-2, 2-1 and then 2-3, 3-2.
What kind of results should i expect to see from each combination?Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
In terms of checking resistors is there a site or a map that tells me what the bands mean so i am able to cross referance?
there is a resistor on the op side next to the chip that is red black black gold which reads 10ohms and i believe this is be a 20ohm resistor could this be the problelm? replace both the resitor and diode?Last edited by epicfatigue; 12-07-2011, 02:43 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
I can barely see the diode you are referring to. How did you test it? Looks like that's on the primary side, as you still have standby power that is odd...Leave a comment:

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by AJ847.63eHi All,
We've got a HP Envy 12th gen that has been dropped and the LCD panel itself has cracked. The glass is fine just the panel itself is cracked. We ordered a replacement screen assembly using the part number off the HP part surfer website.
Upon installation the touch screen now does not work either in UEFI or win 11. Device manager under the "intel Precise touch and Stylus) menu notes "This device cannot start (code 10) Status_Device_Power_Failure".
I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the driver, uninstalling... -
by hotglyAfter upgrading the factory 128Gb SSD to a 512Gb WD_Black SN770M, this surface pro lost touch on screen, no touch in windows or in UEFI.
The Human Interface Devices did find touch and stylus but it shows Disabled in windows device manager.
I am not sure if this is a bios problem or hardware problem, already tried reinstall and reset from windows, not working. And now trying to clean/reset the bios.
Computer model is: Surface Pro 9, i5, 8GB memory, 128GB

by Yehuda170original screen was BOE NV156FHM-T07 with On-Cell Touch screen I²C
replaced with what was in my stock, which is IVO R156NWF7 R2 which is also with On-Cell Touch screen I²C
now touch screen works perfectly in UEFI BIOS menu & boot menu. but not working in OS, tried windows & linux too
with original broken screen i can see in device manager touch screen in human interfaces
but with the new screen it's not showing in device manager
is it lenovo blocking it? is it driver missing?

by grimacelordHello,
I have an HP 15-eh1070wm laptop that came to me for the same reasons I am starting this thread. The charging LED appears when the laptop power adapter is connected and the power LED appears when pressing the power button, but nothing appears on screen.
First thing I did was take off the bottom panel and remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and then reinstall the battery and power on. The fan spins and this time, the back light illuminates and a brief message appears on the screen for about 1 second saying something along like,...-
