Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Sorry guys i have been away on business and just got back got the resistor and going to try it tonight.
If the power supply operates correctly which i think it will, how can i go about identifying what this main board is so i can seek a replacement ?
As i have tryed to google to numbers on it and returned no results.
Thanks Guys

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Get a 1/4W (quarter-watt) 5% resistor of any value from 2.2k (2200) to 4.7k (4700) ohms.Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Do you have a 2.2k - 4.7k resistor; or can you acquire one (e.g. from RadioShack)?Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
ON the main board i followed the power button switch and it has 4.49 volts and drops to 0v when pressed. However on the opposite side where pin10 (on the power supply) connected to the main board we are seeing no 0v drop.
Does this determine there is a fault with the main board? is there a way i can short pin 10 to see if the power supply fires up to indeed confirm this theory?
Would you like pictures of the main board?Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Is this IC101 on the board? When talking about components, please always list where it is on the board via pcb identifier so we know where to look. The more info you give, the less we have to guess and ask for clarification.Leave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
We are still getting 5V SB. Pin 10 is power on/off.
If you hit the power off/on button, see if pin 10 drops to 0.0V. It should change between 0.0V and 2.94V if the main/logic board is working properly.Last edited by retiredcaps; 01-02-2012, 12:54 AM.Leave a comment:

So, I've been away for a while from this thread...
Bring me up to now:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
Hmm, I think from looking at the hot side data and the picture in post #20, I would have expected continuity between more pins in the primary and tertiary.
I'll see if tom66 and PlainBill concur or not. I could be looking at the wrong transformer too.
You might as well test "in circuit" the yellow transformer below the big one. You don't have to desolder, but we would like to see the same "all pins" combination test.
Should i test the mosfets?Attached FilesLeave a comment:

Re: 42inch Touch Screen wont power on
1) Datasheet is at
This is a FET/SMPS. Refer to figure 3 for the pinouts.
2) Pin 3 is Vcc and pin 2 is GND. Measure the resistance between these 2 pins. Report the reading.
3) According to the datasheet, when Vcc reaches 12 V DC, it starts working. After we tell you to reinstall everything, check Vcc to see if it gets to 12V DC.
4) Page 13 has a schematic.Leave a comment:

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. š
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by AJ847.63eHi All,
We've got a HP Envy 12th gen that has been dropped and the LCD panel itself has cracked. The glass is fine just the panel itself is cracked. We ordered a replacement screen assembly using the part number off the HP part surfer website.
Upon installation the touch screen now does not work either in UEFI or win 11. Device manager under the "intel Precise touch and Stylus) menu notes "This device cannot start (code 10) Status_Device_Power_Failure".
I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the driver, uninstalling... -
by hotglyAfter upgrading the factory 128Gb SSD to a 512Gb WD_Black SN770M, this surface pro lost touch on screen, no touch in windows or in UEFI.
The Human Interface Devices did find touch and stylus but it shows Disabled in windows device manager.
I am not sure if this is a bios problem or hardware problem, already tried reinstall and reset from windows, not working. And now trying to clean/reset the bios.
Computer model is: Surface Pro 9, i5, 8GB memory, 128GB

now touch screen works perfectly in UEFI BIOS menu & boot menu. but not working in OS, tried windows & linux too
with original broken screen i can see in device manager touch screen in human interfaces
but with the new screen it's not showing in device manager
is it lenovo blocking it? is it driver missing?

by grimacelordHello,
I have an HP 15-eh1070wm laptop that came to me for the same reasons I am starting this thread. The charging LED appears when the laptop power adapter is connected and the power LED appears when pressing the power button, but nothing appears on screen.
First thing I did was take off the bottom panel and remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and then reinstall the battery and power on. The fan spins and this time, the back light illuminates and a brief message appears on the screen for about 1 second saying something along like,...-
