Vizio GV42L LCD TV Backlight will not come on.

    Hi guys,

I've been reading over this problem on this site and others for a while but I cannot seem to fix it. I bought this tv off of ebay broken and the guy said that it would not light so I decided to take a look. When I opened up the tv one thing that jumped out at me immediately was that some of the caps and transformers on the inverter boards looked like they had been touched up or re-soldered. So out of impulse i bought another LCD inverter board. once the board came I popped it in but no luck. So I downloaded the service manual and started to read and troubleshoot. So He's my problem.

    1. I found that fuse f2 (3 amps) on the mainboard was blown so i soldered in a replacement. Once I replaced it, I managed to get the LED logo light to go from orange to white, and I hear the power supply relay click on. I can also hear the mosfets buzzing and switching so I feel like the power supply is working. I can measure all the output voltages listed on the board. 5v, 12v

    2. I plugged in the video cable for my laptop just to make sure it wasn't in power saving mode.

    3. Now that I have power to the main board I can measure the linear regulators. All except for one of them are in range except the 1.8v supply which is at ~1.95, but I kinda think it either the way I'm measuring it or my meter that will explain the 0.05 difference. The back light still does not turn on.

    4. I checked u33 like everyone else here has suggested, but my board (0171 2272 2133) looks different. There's also a yellow sticker that says 3642-0012-0150 (3c). The sticker on the flash memory says gv42l 82mp02. u33 on mine is exactly like in the manual... an 16 pin multiplexer. The only related chips I find on the board are:

    u1 - p624h (or IRF7316) - Power Mosfet
    u2 - p624h (or IRF7316) - Power Mosfet
    u3 - p624h (or IRF7316) - Power Mosfet
    u4 - abf602 - Regulator -
    u5 - amc1117 - Regulator -1.943v
    u6 - abf602 - Regulator -3.311v
    u7 -
    u8 - abf602 - Regulator -
    u9 - axh549 - Regulator -
    u10 - axh549
    u11 - Mediatek CPU

*edit* I looked up the resistors on u5 and they r1=50 and r2=100 with Vin being 3.3v. so that voltage might be off. Can someone check my math?

    5. In the manual is says to check j7 pin 14 which is the backlight on pin. when I read that it's at 0v. Could this be the cause of my problem, or just a symptom?

    Thanks guys,

I'm gonna pull that regulator and check it out in the mean time.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

HP Pavilion 15-eh Board DAG7HAMB8F0 - CPU throttling to 0.4GHz (PROCHOT_EXT) and black screen
    by m1ch43lzm
Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
    by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
    • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
    • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
    by Hakuu
    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

    More Details

    TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

Help identifying voltage regulator on this concept 2 pm5 monitor pcb board?
    by artvandalai
This Concept 2 rower pm5 monitor doesn't shut down. It keeps turning on and stays on after being turned off. I read on another forum by another user that replaced the same component to check the voltage regulator.
The monitor should pull around 35mA when turned on and in shutdown it should drops to around 0.060mA. Any advice on finding the voltage regulator on this board to check if it needs to be replaced?
