Sony KDL-40s5100 with ghosting: possibly tab bonding issue

I purchased a Sony KDL-40s5100 bravia recently. I specifically asked the seller if it had the issue with ghosting that i had read about affecting other KDL models on this forum, and he lied and said it didnt. Luckily i paid very little either way and I thought there was a solution to those issues to add foam / pressure to 1 tab, which had worked for other people to remove the ghosting (like 3 videos on youtube showing how to do that fix).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCExl...eature=related ( 1 example of the fix)

I took mine compleatly appart and pressed down on all the tabs on both the glass and the board / applied a perfect strip of foam to the metal case so that where the tabs connect to the glass would all be pressed down extra hard and no luck, still have the ghosting.

Some slight differences between my issues and others > mine appears to affect the whole screen evenly, it all has a around 1 second delay to clear (1 second ghost). Most other peoples issue was only 1 side of the screen and usually got to be way worse then a second on the furthest edge of the problem side. Also all people with the issue had either the 46" or 52" models but I have the 40".

When i turn on the unit theres a purple/ pink defect that appears at the top / in horizontal bars, and then fades away in 1 second (see picture bellow), no one else has mentioned this.

When i get really close to my T-con i can hear a slight clicking noise at about 2 clicks per second.

So is it possible that I have a faulty t-con and not the tab issue that most other people with KDL sony's have. Are any of these common / possible failure signs of a bad T-con?

Ive also attached a picture of the tabs and boards after the T-con at the top of the panel. And a picture of the connector for the cables between the t-con and those boards (because i dont know how to remove this connector? it doesnt look like the plastic socket would flex enough for me to get the notches out ?) Until i figure out how to remove those cables I cant get to the top of the t-con to look for damage.

Come on plain bill, you can at least tell me how to remove the connector from the t-con

After making the post i realized yall might ask the same classic questions about the errors.

    1) The error effects all inputs and the OSD menus.

    2) I tested the power supply even though i was quite sure it was fine and the 3.3v is at 3.3v, the 12v is at 11.8v and the 15v is at 15.2v while its fully running. So it looks fine.

To disconnect the ribbon from the T-Con just flip the brown clip on the connector down and pull out the ribbon. This problem is usually caused by a fault on the small ribbons on the right or left edge of the screen. This unfortunately is not even temporarily repairable because it is usually internal and not due to tab bonding issues. It is most likely a small crack on the screen at the right or left edge. You can try replacing the T-Con to see if that is problem but the chances are very small that it will fix you problem.

Thanks for the tip rayrod, I got the cables loose, and examined the t-con, It looked pretty good, except theres 1 part that im not really sure what it does that i see frequently on main boards, that always looks very un proper in that it has glue / melting around it, So i attached a pic, and yall can comment on whether it looks fine. Its the part with 100 L2L written on top.

Took a bunch of tries to get the ribbon cables re alligned after i took them appart, but finally got it back to its original "broken" state with the ghosting.

That component is some kind of inductor could be a coil or a transformer. It is probably fine. Those rarely fail. It looks normal.
