    lg plasma 42pc3d Problem

So Ive done alot of research and found similar problems but nothing that quite matches up. My tv has sound, turns on every time, stays on, and has a unique picture. The picture is red/pink as shown in the picture below. From what Ive read it seems as though I need a new z-sus but Im no expert so I was wondering what you guys thought.

I don't think so. I've fixed several of the sets with that plasma panel and the picture was very dark. That COULD have been an issue with the particular failure, however. I don't have enough experience to say that a different hybrid failure couldn't result in a bright screen.

The problem with it being exclusively a Z-sustain problem is the different colored bar across the screen. That points to a problem with the Y-Sustain, y buffers, the logic main card (main logic card?), or even the panel.

looks like buffers have shorted transistors or something, but i dont remember if this particular panel has replaceabe ones or not..

they hybrids on the sustain boiards do fail ALOT..

i have a junk set with a tired panel( sparkling after showing an image) that i also robbed the zsus from, i will take a look at it if a get a chance to see what you could poke at..

Do you mean "Fried" panel? I have a set that came in the shop today that has sparkling. It has bad video - and you can see images of previous menu settings in the back ground. I noticed that after auto programming so I could see a picture. The image is very light. The video shows red faces. Sparkling
        comes and goes.

Anyone else have this problem the the 42PC3D?
        Picture also Flickers.
        Thanks

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
          by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

Maldischarge-link that fixes it with replacing caps
          by r-p
Starting this thread because Capkid doesn't seem to be reprogramming controlboards anymore (LG 60PZ950 with red maldischarge) and my game-plasma also has maldischarge (Hitachi 42PD3200). So I will grasp at straws to keep them running. I am extremely bad at throwing stuff away.

Is there any merit to this link?

Very short version: Specific caps seem to loose their capacitance and/or increase their ESR. This may cause the maldischarge. Replace them with better/bigger/newer ones and problem solved.

From the limited knowledge I have on the subject, I think...

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
          by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
          1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
          2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
          3. Problem: TV shuts down

Trying to Save - LG 60PH6700 60-inch plasma HDTV - Powers ON but no picture
          by KYBOSH
Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
          Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
          Will start troubleshooting tonight.

AOC AGON AG273QCG refresh problem picture shifts
          by doorzon
          Hi all,

hopefully someone on this board has an idea on how to begin with troubleshooting this problem.

The monitor AOC AGON AG273QCG (curved 27" QHD monitor) has problems refreshing every 1 to 2 seconds or so. A line appears in the middle of the screen and the lower half of the screen is shifted to the right.

          See attached picture.

I am leaning towards an issue with bad soldering of the graphics chip, because the problem used to go away after some time (minutes) but now it is here to stay.
However, this could also be related...
